After a miserably cold and very windy ride today, I finished up the year at 2,901.
Tomorrow is forecast to be even colder and winds are forecast to be higher. The New Year's Day ride may be very short if it occurs at all.

No idea again as Not all bikes have computers or if they have- they don't always work. only thing I can tell you is that the Tandem has less than 1,000 on it this year wheras the normal year is around 4,000. The MTB does not have a computer on it but only 6 months riding. The Road bikes are up to around 4,000
I have no idea but must increase milage this year.

3118 on two bikes, but I report in km because it seems more impressive.
I also drive a 1991 Previa, but I only have 333,500 km on it. I thought that was good but jppe's mileage is awesome.

I finished with 6,161 miles. My last ride was on December 17th, 3 days before my lung surgery. Needless to say, it will be a slow start for 2008. Hopefully, I can make up for that later.

I finished up at 2421. You guys make me feel like a pathetic loser.
Your hero finished with 3005 miles. I had to ride 31 miles on Sunday in damp 40 degree weather to get there. That include 12 miles in sleet.
When I bought my first bike about a year ago, I thought I was going to ride on bike paths about ten miles a week in good weather. What happened?!? "Where is that mild-manner chess historian Neil B., and what have you done with him?"

Yes, that is the most important figure. Best wishes for improving health in the new year.

1940 miles in 153.5 hours. Mostly on the Seven Alaris, less than 100 of them on the Gary Fisher Nirvana, which I sold too cheaply after getting the Seven. When I got the Seven I thought if I rode 1000 miles it would be awesome. Plan on riding a lot more this year. Will winter miles on the trainer count? Oh and at least 38 miles on my Volant skis for the couple of times I brought the edge along with me. :-). FWIW I go faster downhill on the Volants then on the bike. Maybe its just fear of road rash, or the knowledge that hardpack snow is more forgiving than asphalt.

1506 miles in 52 rides. Missed my target by a fair bit.
.... but considering the first 3 months I had a broken collar bone, July and August I was out with a medical complication and no rides November or December due to weather and schedule.....

TOTAL Bike 3007.2
Pontiac Vibe 15200.0
Not really going to set a mileage goal for bike in 2008. Just riding for enjoyment and weight lost. The car I'd like to drive less, have no idea how a stay at home retired person put 15k on a car?
I had about 1000 bike road miles less this year than 2006 due to the mid year slump but I still had about 30,000 feet more climbing this year. But I'm still a slug on the hills!!!
My total rides were down by 20 rides this year but the average miles per ride stayed the same.........48 miles.
OTH-Rounds of golf were up 25% over 2006 and I was able to get my handicap down to an all-time low of 2 for a couple months with tweaked equipment......Yes you CAN buy a game!!

And you do the same for me. Only a fredlike 2032 miles.
However, I feel good about getting a good road bike, getting into bibs and other cycling apparel, and sticking with it after losing seven weeks to a knee injury. But I missed my goal of 2,400 miles. But I enjoyed the year immensely.
I ended the year with:
93 rides
3,688 miles
168,000 calories burned
226 hours
16.5 mph avg.
This year I'm going to shoot for 6,000 miles.

4895 miles, not including trainer miles.
If you need some giggles, visit the long distance forum. They currently have a goal of 1000 miles per month:eek:
My goal for 2008 will be 6000 miles, trainer miles don't count.

Did 2897 in 2007. This year should be much better since I will be able to ride 4 days a week most of the time.
I think I'll shoot for 5000 this year.

2035 miles in 2007, a 200 less than 2006. Just a drop in the bucket for many of you but with work and family commitments I only have the opportunity for 2 rides/week during the spring, summer & fall months and during the winter I'm lucky to get in 2-3 rides/month. No complaints - it's all good just wish there could be more as I enjoy the rides.

Hate these sort of threads. Some of us have the time- have the bike(s) and the family that will allow us to get out and ride- or is it that we get out and ride so we don't have the other commitments. When I started riding- If I was doing 2,000 miles a year- it was a good year. And probably a lot of good weather to go with it aswell. Only reason I am doing higher milage now is that I do not have the work and home commitments that I used to have. Weekends rides are whatever you are going to do but forcing myself out for a 20 mile ride at night after a hard days work in the wind and rain and cold is getting to be a chore now. Can see that milage will drop shortly if the weather doesn't improve.
So if your milage is a lot lower than you wanted it to be Hard luck. See if the boss will give you extra time off work or the wife can mow the lawn a couple of times- Just so you can get out and ride.:rolleyes:

I got half, maybe more, commuting. I did about 3500 of my 7000ish just riding to work and back!
I realize that isn't possible for many of us, but if there is any way to include cycling in your daily life you'll be happier if you do. Really.
I don't know how people get to many "recreational" miles. I'm really impressed!

I got 5059 miles for the year. I had a minor surgery on 12/14/07 and missed a bunch of good rides with my club during the holidays, along with a New Years Day ride up Mt. Diablo yesterday. But I will make up for it later in the year. It's killing me to be off the bike, I have Christmas presents I haven't put to use yet. I usually ride to public transportation (BART Bay Area Rapid Transit) daily and get a longish commute one way twice a week (26.2 miles). Should be back in my routine next week yahoo!

If I don't get out and ride at least 4-5 days a week I start to feel guilty. Most should be able to find an 1.5hrs a day to get some riding in. I make sure to do 20mi at least 4 days a week and do one early morning weekend ride for 50-75mi. If you can stick to that, which is only about 9-10 hours a week of riding you can get 5000/yr. I don't know if I would be singing the same tune if I had to do that on a trainer during the winter though.
Only about 600 miles this year, down from my normal 2,500. Not olny did my office relocate, shortening my daily trip, bur I was unable to ride for two months following a skiing fall. Still, any cycling is good cycling.

I've been commuting everyday since June 'cause I don't have a car. Total was 3048. I wish my car had broken down about 15 yrs ago. Feels good to commute no matter the weather. Its the strong winds that I could do without. The best part is no gas or insurance payments
I think around 6000 in 2007 but for 2008, will downgrade the mileage a bit and up the intensity a lot. Ultimate goal being for faster, longer distances.

I think these threads are very instructive. I'm new to biking, and I have no idea how much other folks ride. Over at the Road Cycling forum, some guy who said he was active duty Marines said he rode some absurd amount (12k or something like that) and berated people who complained that they did less becasue they had a life. I did over 4000, but they were almost all flat. Hills matter a lot, and time on trails is different too. I can ride all year, too, unlike most of you. I'm going to do less biking this year and more swimming and weights. But it says a lot to me how much time everyone else does.

actual over 4045 didn't record by bike ('93 trek 2100 '03 IF crown jewel, Trek y-22 mtn bike)
I climbed 5 more passes for the first time: rabbit ears, muddy , boreas , fremont
and for my birthday I climbed independence pass the hard way (aspen to leadville) over 5800' of cliimbing and over 58 miles guess what birthday it was ?
commuting mileage was about 1500
I even commuted to store and carried t-gving turkey home in my backpack
I got in a record 81 days of skiing which did lower my bicycle mileage
