Hey guys and gals...

Anybody know if it is possible to put a rear derailleur onto a bike with track ends?... I have seen older geared road frames with horizontal drops but no mounting hole for a rear deraileur so I am guessing that it is possible...

Thanks for any resposnse

Jason

the Shimano Saint rear der attaches to the axle and doesn´t need a hanger

I think you can also by hangers that fit onto the axles.

I've used a hanger that slips between the hub and dropout

really cheap derailers work on nutted axles. shimano makes them. mostly found on kids bikes, you can buy one at a shop for $10-15. They are built like a regular der. but they have an adaptor that slides on the axle. I think the adaptor should work with any der, but you might want to ask your local mechanic.

I think the saint requires a specific hub though

Is this the new fixed gear? Gears on a track frame? Anyways, you're looking for a claw type rd, depending on the track ends you have, it may or may not work. They are cheap and plentiful at your LBS.

i'm suprised no one has mentioned internally geared hubs. they are made for frames with track ends.

Goodbye,

I think this forum has officially entered the bizarro world where everything is backwards.
