I just got a Class 3, level two safety vest/shirt. The warning label inside advised that it, and the mass of 3M bright silver reflective tape on it should be washed no more then 25 times before replacement. The bottom edge of the label even had the numbers 1 through 25 and advised users to mark the numbers one by one each time the vest was washed. Have a look at your own gear and think if it shoould be replaced.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Fading is one reason that the main reflective/hi-vis gear I have is outer layer, cutting down (to 0 in 3 years at this point) on the need to wash it in any way other than a damp cloth to get small spills off.
