I'm in. Thanks Carl! :D
Don't have any records from the past so I'll just have to start with the next ride.

I'm there. I've only added rides since last weekend - it'll be interesting to watch progress!

Sounds good. I'm actually adding back to July (I've been keeping records with an offline program) but I only have about 300. I have a 2-day ride in Oct that'll add 150 and I think I can put up about 100/week. We should be able to plow along :D

I have checked out that site and entered some rides individually. What is the difference in being part of a team?
CarlJStoneham
09-12-03, 07:14 PM
Just that we kind of total our miles and if there was ever a Team Challenge, we'd be entered. We can also see each other's miles and maybe help motivate?

Ok, I joined the team. But maybe should note that we ride a tandem, so there are actually two of us, but just one bike.

Just a reminder to bring this to the top of the thread list :) This really is a cool site. Join the team! We already have 5 members (that I know of).

Hey Clint and Carl! I'm looking forward to a new year at Activebody!!!
CarlJStoneham
12-16-03, 01:11 PM
Me too, but I'm not gonna make the 1,000-mile mark :( because it took me too long to get motivated to ride again after I finished my 150. I only have the rest of the week. maybe I can get it in... :P

There's still time (especially in Texas)... you may be kicking yourself if you dont make it to 1,000. I made it for the first time this year.
My hip flaired up again two days ago when I was playing with my kids, and now I'm worried that I may have done some kind of serious damage to it back in October, so hitting that minimum goal for next year is already beginning to concern me.

Wowzers! That'd be me bringing up that average... :D
Go for the 1000 miles, Carl! 3 good rides and you'll be there! I'm determined to hit the 500 mark this year for myself, which I'm reasonably happy with given how infrequently I was actually at home this year. I've done a heckuva lot of extra miles on gym trainers, but it just doesn't feel right to add those miles in to me.

Well, the problem is that I'll be in NC for X-mas w/o a bike. I leave Monday and return the following Sunday. Right now, we're suffering through 20+ mph winds and temps (before wind chill) of 45-50. Tomorrow is supposed to be better, though, so I may be able to get it in.

It's funny how relative temperatures can be.
Living in Queensland, Australia, I'd talk myself out of a ride if I needed to wear a long sleeve jersey. It was just too damn cold...
In Denver, I'm happy to go for a ride so long as it's not a blizzard.
Not picking on you mate... I understand completely. But if you do have a windproof jacket and some long pants, you'd probably still enjoy it if you went out even for just 10 miles or so. I know for me, the toughest part is convincing myself to put my kit on and wheel the bike out the door. Everything that comes after that is always awesome.

Hi Carl,
I just joined and added in my ride from last Saturday. At 205lbs I may be bringing the average weight of the team up a bit!!

Hey Peter! Glad you're on board! Did you get my message about the DVDs? LOVE 'EM! Thanks!
Booyah: You're 100% right. On several occassions preparing for my MS 150 I didn't want to ride. When I made myself, as soon as I got 200 feet down the road, I would ask myself "Why did I not want to do THIS?" :D It's just mtivation which I'm sorely lacking on. You're right about getting out, though. I'm just gonna have to do it. Tomorrow is supposed to be 60 w/ little wind, so I'm gonna drag my butt out there or die trying! :)
Since I have 85 miles to go to 1,000 and 8 days to do it, I need to get over the complaints and "JUST DO IT!"
Thanks for all the words people. It's really helped. I'll post tomorrow PM after a good ride (I hope)...

Ditto.
Carl - thanks for bringing this post back to the top, and for posting your other thread. I've been in a bit of a lull too, mainly due to a hectic travel schedule over the past three months. Even on some gorgeous weekends in Denver I've stayed inside rather than get out and ride for no good reason at all. Now that I'm home for a month, you've helped give me some more enthusiasm to get back on the bike too! No matter how cold it is tomorrow, I'm riding to work.

I must have joined the wrong team - I only see two names (including my own) after I entered my rides from my Excel log. But, it let me "in" with the password you posted, so I'm not sure what I did wrong.
Anyone with ideas?

I found it quite confusing having to log in twice - once for the "Add a Ride" and again for the forum. Took a while to figure it out.
Also disappointed that, apparently (unbless I missed it somewhere) you can not see all of the team members on the same page.
Also, since it is very hard for me to get out for a ride due to darkness, work and cold, and since I am riding the trainer regularly in place of the bike, I AM going to post my training miles on the trainer, the best I can.
CarlJStoneham
12-16-03, 08:38 PM
Yeah. I posted a suggesion to be able to see all the team members. Currently, it only shows the "Top 5". Allen, did you make sure you joined "Team BF"? not sure why you see only two. At the top of your "Cycling" window it should show 5 riders, one of whom is me.
DnvrFox, miles are miles, be they on a trainer or on the road :)
CarlJStoneham
12-16-03, 08:42 PM
Actually, I do see a Travis Tonn. That you Dnvr? Apparently it'll show more than 5. That mean we only have 6 people who've posted mileage?
ARGH! There's a "Bike Forums" team!!! Apparently someone didn't like my "Team BF" >:( Hmmm. I'm gonna join up for a sec and see who all is there...
CarlJStoneham
12-16-03, 08:45 PM
OK. Denver Fox, I see you're on the "Bike Forums" team, not "Team BF" as is Petersta and you, Allen. Hmmm. Guess I'll run dual "membership" and see if the other members in Team BF want to move over...
CarlJStoneham
12-16-03, 08:48 PM
Apparently, there are two Bike Forum teams. Not sure what happened, but someone added a "Bike Forums" team instead of joining MY "Team BF" ;) Actually, it doesn't matter either way, but now I'm calling on the "Team BF" members to see if we should migrate to team "Bike Forums" and asking if the team "Bike Forums" people mind :) Just want to be diplomatic about all this. :D

Carl, I went back and tried to join Team BF after my earlier post, and it wouldn't "take" the password - but Bike Forums Team DID when I first signed up.

12-16-03, 09:07 PM
Interesting. Good to know. I think I'm gonna try and talk the Team BF guys into moving to Bike Forums anyway. Easier that way :)
Stubacca

Happy to migrate to the "Bike Forums" team.
For anyone moving across or joining, select the team "Bike Forums - cycling" from the drop down in the second section of the "Manage your TEAMS" page.
The top section of the TEAMS page is for adding a new team. I'd say someone trying to join the original team typed it in the top section instead, hence the two teams with the same password!

Hey folks... Sorry I've been missing from the conversation on this one... I got this nasty bug and have not been able to do anything...
First off... (you already know this) There are 2 Bike Forum teams. Not 100% sure which one you have settled on but the BF team is the team that Carl set up I think. Both have the same password of "cyclista".
Second, as a user, you can add yourself to as many teams as you like. So... we all could be on both teams if we like. I put the feature in cause all the other sites I've used in the past only gave me the option for one team.
3rd, You should see everyone on the team... no "top 5" for the teams.
4th... You guys kick BUTT and I hope you can hit your mile goals by the end of the year!!!
Thanks again,
Clint

Cool. Just wanted to get a big ole team if we could! We now weigh more than a TON!
PS Clint, can you figure out who actually *made* Team "Bike Forums"? If it was an accident, we need to know who so we can maintain it in the future if we need to... It was a TRUE accident and the creator doesn't want to "maintain" the team, I'll be glad to take the reigns

Hey Rdrunner, good to see your post here on this topic, how you doing, I hope STR was a blast for you and Vicki, Mom and I certianly had a blast at it!!....I gather down there in Alabama you're probably still riding and having a good time eh??...It's our off season up here in Michigan, but we'll start climbing stairs at the begining of Jan. and then get on the trainer bike starting in feb. so the build up for the next season will begin soon, and I always look forward to another cool season!!..
You have any plans for rallys for next year??

Doin' my best! I got home a bit late and couldn't find the mounting bracket for my light :P I had to go to the gym and ride a stationary. Talk about hell :( That big ole seat was PAINFUL! Only got 5 miles. I get off early today, however, so I'll make up the miles when I ride. I figure 15 today, 20 tomorrow and then I can crap out the last 35 when I get back home after X-mas.

Only 32 miles to go to make 500 for the year. Well, 500 for the year since I fitted a bike computer and I started tracking it! Commuted to and from work a couple of times this week. Not today though, since I've got a work Christmas lunch on the other side of town.
Hoping to crank out a 35-40 miler this Saturday morning, and a few more decent rides next week, so maybe I'll even make it to 600!
Good work eveyone!

Seems a bit confusing?

A few of us have been logging all year.
Come Jan 1st I believe we will all start anew.
