Northern California - Can I get some input please? 8-)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Happy New Year Everyone! :D

I've been working on a project for cyclists in my area to be able to connect and find out about local cycling events/clubs/rides etc. and I was wondering if any of you would be willing to give me some feedback regarding useability etc.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me! 8-)

I think he galleries page is a little slow. Could it be my connection though? I think the People Links section is cool. Hoepfully you can get some people signed on to become riding partners. Do you own a bike store? Maybe you can encourage your customers to sign in on the spot.

not sure about the gallery speed, I'll find out if that's connection related or format related.... I think I'll be able to get people on the people links pretty quickly and will probably have some sort of sign up sheet on the board of my favorite shop....

Thanks for the input!!! :D

The gallery speed seems fine. Approx 6ish secs between photos on my count. It seems strange that your navigation protrudes up into your "top banner" area though. I'm also not a big fan of all the unused space to the left of your navigation menu. Possibly integrate the Cycle Gold Country into the top banner and put your navigation menu to the far left. Or, put the navigation into the dark green horizontal bar just under the top image. Here's the page I maintain for reference of how I like things laid out. This is only opinion though so take it with a grain of salt.

Gallery speed seems fine to me. Maybe the Flash picture viewer is bit heavy. The formatting seems to be set to a certain width so the navigation header shifts when you narrow the browser window.

Couldn't you use Bikeforums, Nor-Cal to do the same kind of interaction?

not really, the site is Tuolumne county and Calaveras County specific for right now. I'm trying to get the local people here connected since I had a really hard time finding any cyclists around here... but once I got connected I found there are lots of them!

You should try to get my sister-in-law and her husband riding again. They used to ride in LA but have hung up their Dave Moulton and Battaglin bikes for years now. They run the Arnold Pet Clinic.

If I was using this website, I would be looking for information such as maps, route sheets, trails, weather, etc. I would also include links to some of the local clubs.

Cool! I was planning on adding some local routes, and it would be pretty easy to add a weather link. The local club will be part of the local links as soon as I get something from them!

Thanks BR!!!! :D

Are you planning on hosting, coordinating or promoting group rides as well? That would be cool. Send a mass email out to your membership or something like that.
