As we head into the cold winter months for training it's a little difficult to stay motivated. Especially knowing that the next soonest race is still several months away. I'm just curious what songs people like to keep them motivated and pumped up during training.

Thrice-The Melting Point Of Wax: That might be the most inspiring song I've ever heard.
But, +1 on the hardcore, and also a lot of punk and some ska and indie.

Hehe, Ive got my player loaded up with some Sasha and Digweed, George Acosta, and Chemical Brothers.
Also have some Beatles and David Gray in there for the warmup. But then, bam! It goes into Chemical Brothers Do It Again and I kick it up a few notches.
And sisters of mercy... there is more than one person in the world that listens to them? I had never heard of them before until a particular camping trip where someone went missing and we found her dancing in the woods, naked, to Sisters of Mercy. Every time I hear about them I think of this and laugh. Thank you!
diferents ones, but something like EVANESCENSE, RED HOT CHILLI PEPERS,CRED, NIKELBACK.;)
At least one person knew who that is... He just happens to be the #1 DJ in the world at the moment... lol

I fell in love with listening to audio books while doing long distance biking. I did 11 centuries last year in 11 months.
My favorite books were
The Confessions of an Economic Hitman
The Tipping Point
I also listened to the Greenspan book and Crystal Fire. I didn't complete either of these as they were a total bore by the end. The Greenspan book was good for about 10-15 hours about as it neared the 20th hour it got pretty bad so I switched to the Tipping Point. Far better book. I have a few books I want to listen to but are not available in audio format on Audible (MicroTrends, Price of Power: Kissinger in the Nixon White House)

I spent several hours agonizing over the perfect twenty-five minute race warmup mix -- intended to be quick, with a ramp up and down -- and came up with this five-sonmg combo (played in this order):
Starry Eyed Surprise -- Oakenfold
Time to Start -- Blue Man Group
Acid 8000 -- Fat Boy Slim
Keep Hope Alive -- The Crystal Method
Only the Young -- Journey
I know that the last one is a bit odd, but any Visionquest fans will get it (and I thought of using Lunatic Fringe, but as inspired of a song as it is, it just doesn't cut it when you have a need for 90+ rpm, and is better suited for getting your blood to boil when sitting alone in the dark contemplating a future effort). Narrowly missing the list was Smack My ***** Up by The Prodigy.

Wow, I'd love to swap music with you if that's what you'r listening to. I have much of state of trance on my ipod too, some chem brothers, some underworld, a little NIN, DJ Tiesto, Way out West, even some Moby, pretty much mostly techno. As long as there is a fast beat, I seem to go faster.
Funny how that works!
I have State Of Trance Episodes 182-206 then some newer ones 330-331 and a couple of live sets from the white festival... The best part is that each episode is 2 hours.. and it is one long stream rip.. so no gaps between songs and if I cue up two episodes I have a ride covered.... set it and forget it.

Well,
Folks may not know what this is but, I have a player full of the Hawthorne Caballero Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps. Not too much makes running on a treadmill more bearable for me. When I'm on the trainer, I'm having coach Troy (spinervals) beat up on me!

I can't believe with all the dance music I've seen I'm the first one to mention the Daft Punk Alive 2007 album that came out a couple months ago...that's all I've been able to bike or run to lately :)
Oh, yeah, by the way...
Hi! I'm Joe. First post, looking forward to some good foruming :)
