Mountain Biking - New to forum and new bike

New here. I got a bike for xmas and wanted to see what you guys thought.

Im recovering from knee surgery and will primarily use it around my subdivision mostly on road at first until my knee is totally healed. Then I will use it for light trails. Nothing hardcore.

You should be fine with that as long as you do keep it to light trails. Of course, if you're recovering from knee surgery, I would expect that you're not going to overdo anything anytime soon :) .

If you got that bike exactly how it is in the link, I would suggest getting some slick tires or ones with an inverted tread design if you're going to be mainly on the road. You can find them pretty cheap, and they make road riding sooo much better than a knobby tire, IMO.

Why wouldn't it be able to handle more aggressive trails?

Zan is correct :) . Once Hawk88's knee is better, it's certainly more than adequate for heavier duty fare.

That was the strangest crater and an odd track. I always had visions of getting out of shape on the downhill and ending up in the pond in the bottom.

Haha . . . I thought you knew something I didn't. I don't remember everything mind you - - I was only about 14 or so. I often wondered what became of the place (and how the crater got there to begin with)

Thanks for all the comments. I was hoping to go for its maiden voyage today around the neighborhood. The weather is going to awesome today. Then I remembered I had rehab today. Tomorrow is suppose to be just even better, so hopefully I can get out on it!!! I ordered my helmet (not that I will be REALLY needing it any time soon). I got a Fox Flux helmet. I am partial to Fox because I ride dirt bikes (motorcycles) as well and love their gear. Hopefully there bike stuff is on the same level.
