my seat post isnt even an inch long.

I was going to edit your user title, but figured you should change it instead. Should be "Your", not "You're".

Thanks for pointing that out Ex, it's fixed now.

Prozakk, you have odyssey dirt forks with 990 mounts right? How much did you pay, and do you like them?
I Have a Odyssey Evolver and a Monoloever medium and a linear cable laying around (since I took them off my bike, so i was thinking about putting them up front and running front brakes only.

Oh, and will evolvers work as fronts?

Prozakk

I do have Ody Dirt's 990/14mm. Paid $90. I currently have Ody's Evolvers on the front. I had to add a washer to one arm tightening bolt, or it would keep loosening. Any slight imperfection in the mounts cause brake functioning problems.

I also run Ody Monolever mediums & Linear's but I use the inner wires from DK slic's (Teflon coated wire, unlike non-coated Ody wire). Smooooooooooooooooooooooooooth!

The Ody Dirts are awesome. And the lifetime warranty can't be beat (not that I'll/you'd ever need it though).

I just looked them up, they only come with 14mm dropouts, I run 3/8" up front. Looks like this isnt going to happen. I'm not going to buy a new fork, hub, and spokes to run front brakes.

Prozakk
04-30-06, 10:26 AM
They make a 3/8".

Have you ordered form that site? How do you pic what you need? It says the colors, 990 mounts or not, and the drop out size, but it doesnt let you pick.

Yes. I bought about 1/2 my bike's parts from them.

There's a note section when you order.

Or just call them (Monday).

no problems with them? I'm weary about trying out new mail orders, its too easy to get screwed over on the internet.

No. In fact they called me to confirm everything I typed in the details box (sizes, colors, etc.). And their prices are hard to beat on many items.

Actually, forget about it. I'm not going to be able to run any brakes becuause my bars are all way to short to fit a brake lever, except for my 4pc which I dont want to use. My grips almost touch my crossbar on the ones i use and they do touch the cross bar on my others.

Thanks for all the help though. I fi decide to get new bars ever then i will do this.

Myabie when christmas comes around those froks and some red odyssey bars will be on my list.

Prozakk

Bend the lever???

I_Suck_At_BMX

Theres no room to clamp the lever unless I want to put it on the crossbar which wouldnt be a good idea.

Prozakk
04-30-06, 12:08 PM
Dia comp used to make levers that could be mounted below the cross bar, just for cases like yours...and can be found on eBay from time to time.

I'd just get wider bars, or smaller grips though.

I_Suck_At_BMX
04-30-06, 12:08 PM
Maybie I could cut down the grip, but that depends, I want to have enough room to be able to grab the bars with my hand.

Prozakk
04-30-06, 12:12 PM
I wouldn't cut.

KinetikBiker

I wouldn't cut.
Leave that to Hawthorne Heights and Fall Out Boy.

The only thing that you should cut on your bike should be your seatpost, unless your like Prozakk and had to weld together 2 seatposts and still want a higher seat.

I wouldnt even cut Slams if i had 'em

FuzzyRyder

You do realize that bars are usualy made longer because your supposed to cut them to the lenght that feels best for you right? I wouldnt say the only thing you should cut is the post. There is lots of stuff to cut down on bikes.

What im saying is, why would you cut them down, sure i could make my S&M Mediums 22" long and ride them on the bends, but if i can do 270 X-ups with them uncut 24.5 why would i?

Wider bars = more stability.

And after riding my freinds bike that has those Sunday Triumph bars (28"), ill be gettin wider bars, because i like the feel/look.

FuzzyRyder

It's all personal preference. I still wouldnt say that the post is the only thing that should be cut like you said before. I find narrower bars to be easyer to bunny hop with.

Thats true, but as for bunnyhops being easier, i dont know how thats true...

FuzzyRyder

One of my brothers friends is a racer and his bike is super super light, like probably half the wieght of my bike. The bars were very wide for stability, and my bars are cut fairly narrow (my lever is just berly on the bend) and even though my bike was double the weight I could still bunnyhop it alot higher then I could get that race bike up. The bars felt really weird being wide and it just seemed weird when I was pulling up the front end. Although now that I think about it the frame geometry probly has alot to do with it also.

I figured I'd post a picture of my Pos bike (at the moment) since i havent yet. Not sure if I'm doing this right but I'll give it a try

I like it.

Its not bad...

How old is that Hyper frame? I thought the like went out of business or something...

FuzzyRyder
05-07-06, 01:48 PM
They are still in business, well at least they are in canada, but they don't make that frame anymore. I'd say it's probly around 3 or 4 years old. I'm hoping to get a Mutiny Captain by the end of the season.

Im not going to cut mine, unless it takes me more than 2 days to get my X-ups down again (i would be going from 24.5" bars to 28"...)

CMcMahon
05-10-06, 03:32 PM
X-ups are easier with wider bars, so it shouldn't take you that long. 28" is a bit too wide for me; 26.5" is what I've got my Beringer Lights at right now, and I think that 27" would be fine.

Yeah, i think i will cut them a bit, 26" or 27" sounds good...

But ill see when i get them...

CMcMahon

I can barely even do x-ups with skinny bars. The last time I tried, I was riding my friend Johann's bike while mine was at the powdercoaters. 7.25" tall, 25" wide bars with only about 8* of backsweep led to me not being able to get the bars unclicked.

Not very fun.

I have trouble with my freinds bars (Fly Moscas cut to like 22", there like scooter bars, and he runs em chicago style, becuase his stem slips...) but i have no trouble with my S&M Mediums...24.5"

But i want bigger bars..

CMcMahon
05-10-06, 06:32 PM
Oh, I used to have no trouble. I had 24" wide Castillo bars back in the day. But once you get used to tall, wide bars, it becomes way easier to crank your x-ups around... with the disadvantage that you try to crank them just as far and hard on other people's bikes, leading to tweaked wrists and locked crosses.

No cutting. I use lock-on grips, so my hands reside about 1/2" from bar edges anyway.

seriously, you shouldnt be proud of a Diamondback.
and by the way, i really doubt that the frame weighs 3.2lbs because my friend had that bike and it was sooooo heavy

plus like there is no frame that accully weights that much unless its a very expansive race frame. plus like the lightest frame that ment for freestyle is a eastern grimreaper it weighs like 4.5 pounds.
