why would you put good stuff on a haro?
A. becuase its a nice frame (4130) (6lbs) and its just nice
B. becuase im saving up for an S&M Stricker
C. becuase some of the parts either broke or suck (like the cranks, seatpost and grips)

2001 GT VFR (is Dyno/GT the same company or something?)

it looks like crap, it got stolen, and painted, and i tried to paint it... but I really suck at painting, so the paint is uneven, and a ton of the parts of my bike are red (paint color)

its a shame to see such a good bike (for the money, i got it for $157 from wheelworks, floor model) look so bad...

heres a pic, all stock:

http://community.webshots.com/photo/335676549/339737832rlUpoi

I cleaned up the crankset a bit, and that wheel is GONE (My friend skid on it, and the tire combusted for a second or two)

also, its crazy light

Even at $157, that isn't a good deal.

GT Dynos, in general, are that bad. They haven't been good since Lord Voelker was on the team.

um i know this is a HUGE bump but i got bored and this shocked me.

S&M is one of the most AMERICAN companys out there so this made me stare when i saw this...

CMcMahon

S&M seats are made in the Republic of China (Taiwan).

opps. my bad

then why are they like AMERICAN parts are the best and "american bike company" and there seats are made there?
are they made by VELO like some other BMX companys seats?

CMcMahon
05-24-05, 11:55 AM
Because producing tires, seats, and other small parts in America will lead to the products costing more for the same, if not lower, quality.

queensrider86
05-24-05, 02:58 PM
it says on the s&m website that they are made in asia because the factories specialize in seats or tires, so it is cheaper for better quality

Brian

There is nothing wrong with overseas production. Regardless of where something is made, there are generally one of 2 criteria in the production contract. Either it's made to a certain standard, and price is not a concern, or it's made to a certain price point, and therefore to possibly lower standards. Quality is sometimes sacrificed a bit on some items to keep the cost down on a bike. Seats, tires, grips and pedals are usually replaced quickly, so it's just as easy to spec cheaper ones. Plenty of road and MTB bikes don't even include pedals. As far as Velo, they manufacture for so many different labels, it's not even funny. Nothing wrong with most of their product either.

I'm new here and just want to say whats up and I ride a Thursday. It's a small company in Idaho that handbuilds there bikes out of cromo. They rock, I haven't found a faster bike off the line yet. If someone is looking for a custom steel bike I recommend looking at a Thursday. They just came out w/ a jumper, I can't wait till mine gets here, it's currently being painted. I think what ever bike you like the most is the best and don't support knocking someones opinions. enjoy the sport and ride on...

depends on the day for me....
If its cruising around town with my son it could be my 1979 SE Racing OM Flyer.....

If I am looking to ride a Bling bling ride, its the Nomura 24"......

If I want to be 16 again, I ride my original race bike from 1983-1986, my Robinson 24"

If I want to pretend I am Eric Rupe (look him up....) I ride my Rupe Replica Profile......

If I want to try and kill myself and get air or ride hard, I have a Haro Backtrail X24...Its heavy, strong and so far indestructable.

When you first signed on to the forums, you agreed that you would be doing your best to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. If you find you are unable to, then you should not be posting here. If you prefer, we can have the mods explain it to you.
