Hi, Im planning a Trans Siberian ride starting May 2009. Im looking for advice on suspension vs. rigid frames and training. Right now I can do 100km a day but Im bushed at the end and need a couple of days to recover. I need to do 100km a day for about 4 months to keep to my schedule. Any and all advice is welcome.Ray

I think you'll find a lot more information in the touring forum:

As far as preparation, riding 2-3 days and then taking a rest day can really improve your fitness quickly. Slowly extend the length of the rides around 10-15% each week as long as you're not worn out and you should be in shape in two months or so.

If you want to increase your average speed, go real hard on all the hills and coast down them to recover, or try regimented interval training.
