Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A new event put on by a group that holds triathlons and duathlons is the Griffen Race the Lake on 17AUG2008. Ride around Lake Winnebago ~90 miles. The first 2/3 is fairly flat. The final 1/3 takes you up the hill at High Cliff State Park and some other significant (in this part of the state) climbs.

The Griffen Race The Lake looks like fun. Kind of expensive, but I think I could probably do pretty well. I wonder what turnout will be?

Race the Lake: on the website they have an elevation chart - Midwest Sports always has put on a great event - no matter if its a Half-Marathon, duathlon, or triathlon. This is their first bike event. They always have plenty of volunteers, they sweep the corners, collaborate with local police for the high-traffic intersections.

As for the turnout? Their other events draw nearly 1000 participants, but 90+ miles isn't a normal ride for most people. I wouldn't be surprised if it draws > 500 riders...even though it's the day after the DD.

I plan on doing this and the DD. Turn the weekend into the Dairyland DOUBLE Dare!

Yeah, what I'm seeing is a non USA-Cycling race, with no categories - on a partially closed course (monitered intersections?) probably won't bring in a huge amount of people.
The other thing is it looks like this is being set up like a TT type race (riding side by side = DQ'd) which seems kind of ridiculous.
