But if you go up Diablo today and take the SW approach you would have a nice tailwind.

I tried to take my kid up the mountain yesterday and beat the rain. Got as far as the junction before it started coming down on and had to head back. I thought the forecasts were for winds in the LATE afternoon. The winds weren't as bad as it's gonna be today but in some places, we actually had to put some effort into pedaling just to go downhill .

And I think my American Classic 420 aero wheels are a pain in even small gusts. Yikes.
That stuff could knock you right over.

From the CoCoTimes:

1 p.m.: Mount Diablo State Park is closed until further notice due to the stormy weather.
Downed trees, flooding, landslides and rock falls have been reported on the park's road. Winds have been particularly forceful on the mountain, according to a statement from the state Department of Parks and Recreation. Gusts have been ranging from 55 to 85 mph, with a top wind speed of 110 mph was recorded this morning at the visitor center.

To check when the park roads will reopen, call 925-837-2525.

Probably a good weekend to put on my new handlebars and new cables all around.

I'll bet some of those crazy hang gliders and paragliders (aka parapanties, TM Steve D.) will still launch.

Our local roads are going to be trash. Not that we'll be out on them...:(

Diablo re-opened Sunday at about 1400 - didn't find out until it was too late for me to go up but here's another blogger who did and found some snow up there. The Wall was still shut down d/t icey surface.

Ha, I was lucky then ... Considering a dry morning, I expected no closure. I passed by Athenian School at 2:06pm and was 2:15pm at the South Gate.
