Foo - The official rust bucket fan club thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

but the one on top is super-rusty. just bought a 4' x 4' plate to build new frame rails and outriggers for it, actually. gotta get the body solid so i can put the engine back in it when it's done...

You mean you have to have a nice looking car to be able to drive it?
my sister and husband - when they were first sent over via Air Force to London - looked around for signature beetle and found one. They did a huge amount of traveling in it - guess it had some multi-colored panels - no OUTWARD peace signs (on the seats, however, there were many) - and a whole lotta other stuffs. My BIL looked for this vehicle - my sister - was ---- meh. But they did a few years of traveling in it - how FUN!!!!!! I'd do it!!!

no, you need a structurally sound car to drive it.

Those are structually sound.
I can actually buy a beetle for $500, but I like the bus more.

I've sold all of them, but once again, my old original paint kombi:

This was the rustiest car I've ever seen. I eventually cut it up:

I just cut the rusty fenders off my '85 Camry. I'm going to try rebuilding them with expanding foam insulation and Bondo next week.
I wish I had some photos of how crummy my car looks.
My 65 bug did not have floor pans for many moons. I loved that car. Got back and forth to many surf spots for a long time. Had a real Fred Flintstone appeal to it.
