Okay so I've got this real bad case of Bronchitis topped off by uncontrollable coughing fits then followed by asthma attacks.
My voice has been silenced (my boss loves that part) and my lungs are sore as well as muscles in my ribs, torso and back.
I had to work throughout this - been sick since last Thursday - because the only people able to do my job description are out sick as well.
So I got desperate and did something I normally wouldn't do.
I accepted this offering of *ahem* TEA from Mexico. This was from a co-worker. She said to me that this is supposed to be for Bronchitis, that everyone gets better the next day. There is no listing of ingredients. I opened the package and it smelled very fragrant.
I drank some of this last night and my head got fuzzy minded I was feeling woozy and my face turned bright red.
But I was able to finally whisper this morning. OH boy!! I want to be 100 percent back to normal!!!
So what do I do? I'm drinking it again. So now I'm feeling woozy and fuzzy minded again. I think I'm drinking something illegal.
All the label says on it is "TADIN"

It's a catalyst tea...next thing you know you'll be sleepin with people for the really hard stuff. I say quit now before it becomes a real problem. Just my 2 cents.

Probably not that bad for you taken in moderation. There are lots of remedies like that down here - and so far all of them work very well for me - and I ain't dead (yet).

These are the only cautions I could find:
Contraindications:
The plant and essential oil should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. Not only does the plant have toxic activity, it has also been traditionally used to induce abortions.
While epazote has been used by indigenous tribes as a contraceptive, this use is not verified by clinical research (nor should it be relied on for such). However, the use of the plant is probably contraindicated for couples trying to get pregnant.
The oil of epazote is considered extremely toxic and should not be taken internally.

What is interesting is that most medicines are considered toxic - or extremely toxic. After all, they are trying to kill things inside of you...

Are you sure that "tea" doesn't have the same as special "brownies"? ;)

Let's send out a rescue party if we don't hear back from Siu in a few hours.... :o
Siu, I have some tea from an herbal apothecary in Vienna which helps ease bronchitis/cough. I can send you some if you want. All ingredients are listed, and it meets European standards for herbal medications. I drink it as needed, with no wooziness. ;)

+1 Siu, bronchitis and asthma at the same time is a bad mix. I've personally had a respiratory failure event by trying to get through a bout of bronchitis by myself.

From Mexico...it's 'tea', no ingredients listed, makes you fuzzy headed, turned your face bright red, and you want MORE  ?
I'd see a doctor about the bronchitis...

She could be having problems with the storm. My mother's power (San Jose) was off all day yesterday, and Mr. East Hill's mother (Yuba City) got her fence blown over AND she lost her power yesterday. I've noticed a lot of the Bay Area folks who are normally present Saturdays in the C & V forum have not yet shown up...could be cleaning up/bailing out.

We just got our power back here in Davis--was out since night before last. Reminded me of
living off the grid in Humboldt.
Siu--hope you feel better. I have asthma as well which makes colds and coughs extra fun at times.

Hey everyone, I'm here!! I had to work today....
I'm still kind of sick but on the uprise I think. Well...I'm still coughing pretty bad. I'm walking around with my inhaler close at hand.
I'm wondering if it's that tea or just me getting better. Although there is still a lot of yuckiness in my lungs.
Vega, what tea is that exactly? Perhaps I can get it here? I don't want you to have to go through the trouble. Thanks for the offer! Oh and - thanks for getting the search party ready just in case. ;)((hugs))
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I think this is the fourth time I've gone through this. :o

There is only one thing to do - Stacey send one of your rats as a test animal... <sorry - couldn't resist>
<runs and hides in a latin american country...>
I hope you feel better soon. I had Bronchitis something severe as a kid and I ended up in the doctor's office and missed a lot of activities and whatnot that I so wanted to do. It really sucked. It just sort of disappeared after I turned 16.

Thank you. :) Mine has turned in pneumonia before. But I don't think it will this time.
Siu,
there's some nasty stuff going around down here in texas, sore throat for about a day or so
then this very nasty non productive cough that lingers about a month.
If you've had pneumonia, have bronchitis and asthma, do yourself a favor and go see
a doctor.

Yeah, really. You could have chronic bronchitis, which can make you far more susceptible to the stuff Donna linked to. Respiratory problems are not something to take lightly, and each time you have a bout with bronchitis, tissue damage results, leaving you more vulnerable to the next attack.
