It was really windy, 60 deg F, and raining all day today. I made it about 12 miles going into a 25 mph wind before my jacket was soaked through and I was freeeeeeeeeezin. Hard to believe it was over 100 deg F here three weeks ago.

I need rain gear. I want to be visible, dry, and comfortable. Let me know what I should look for and what I should pay.

i saw some gore-tex jackets on ebay for about $60 and performance has a nice lookin (but dark colored) gore-tex jacket for $130 on sale right now. from my experience when somthing is advertised as "new" and is on ebay for half of retail it is some sort of rip off.

Another thread here complained about breathability of gore-tex and thought fleece was better, but I hate being cold and wet too. I cant imagine fleece being much good on a day like today.

Im sure the subject is far more complex than I know and Im gonna end up spending over $100 for more cycling gear, so I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks

Jeff Stanley

Hi,
I did some asking around; and the name that kept coming up was Burley.
So I bought a Burley rain jacket. I haven't actually used it in the rain......but its' there if some mad impulse overcomes my sanity

I found an incredibly helpful article at http://slate.msn.com/id/2085417/ that compares several brands and contains a lot of technical info about rain gear construction and the differences between brands and fabrics.

Well, here is a don't buy: don't buy something that does not breathe; you'll sweat to death under it, and that's even worse.
