Couple of hours at least before I have to get dressed in my suit and white---WHITE?---shirt. Had a bath and now getting bored. Not allowed to go down and see the bikes- not even for a short visit- just in case I decide to strip the tyres off and fix yet another puncture in the MTB. I have suggested that I could stand at the door and just look but I am not even allowed to do that.

So what can I do for the next few hours? No new postings on 50+ and paid visits to the kindergarten of Road and MTB. Already read Cycling+ that I bought specially for the occasion. Nothing on the TV that I want to watch and I am bored.

Any Suggestions?

Sit down and plan your next ride, map it out and think about what you will be seeing and how fast you will be riding etc. Always helps to think about what you want to do v. what you have to do.

Your being banned from the bicycle shed while wearing your good clothes reminds me of the "boy magnet".

When my sons were adolescents we lived in a house with a creek running behind the back yard. The boys loved playing in the creek so much that I called it the boy magnet. When they went down to the creek they'd sometimes come back so muddy that I couldn't tell what color clothes they were wearing. I'd have to spray them down with the hose before my wife would let them inside the house.

When we were trying to get the family dressed for an event we'd tell them to stay out of the creek. I could see them trying but eventually the creeks magical pull was too great for them to overcome and they'd get sucked down into the mud.

Gotta post this- Me and white shirts do not mix. Best thing to do is cover the shirt. Put on the top that I fely most comfortable in. Just about to go so post again tomorrow when I am a man unburdened. And a lot of $$$'s poorer. Glad I bought the new bike before christmas.

I wore a tie for New Years, which I haven't done in a lot of years and I forgot how to tie the thing. I did finally get it though.

I usually grab a book when I have time to kill. Right now I'm reading " Inside the Postal Bus".

A helmet would have been the proper accessory for the outfit;)

Yesterday, I got so bored with not being able to ride that I did something I hadn't done in over three years: rode my stationary bike. 20 minutes on it has me thinking that I could do an easy ride on one of my other bikes now. Two more weeks off work. Two weeks of light duty with no lifting after that. I'm going to go bonkers........

While we're waiting, diving biker, how do you make a link that says something other than the link address? I think that's cool.

Just copy the web address of the page you want to link to, highlight the text that you want to be linked, then click on the little earth icon with sunglasses (or whatever it is) at the top of the message area and paste (ctrl v) the address into the box that appears. Voila!

Took me a long time to figure it out.

Day was fantastic- Stayed sober- but for those of us that have yet to experience a Daughters wedding- Take the tissues- no matter how hard you are. Only a couple of pics but as its this forum one was set up- and the daughter did not mind- Make your own mind up. Feeling tired now. I know what I should have done this morning- take a nap.

Had one glass of champagne and I have a headache. Weddings don't agree with me. Have to ride out to the Restaurant to collect the Car but temp about 30 and plenty of Ice in the garden so will wait a bit before going. Thanks for all your comments but Besides the wedding- it was the first time ALL of my relations have got togetjher for at least 20 years. Last time was at a funeral so this was a happier occasion.

Now as to the Son-in-law. He was the one that made me get the Tandem in the first place. Those that ride Tandems realise that a Tandem requires Team work. 6 years ago he was a fit youngster that anyone would have trouble staying with offroad. But not on a Tandem. Attachment is the last time he came on it with me and we only did a 35 miler- It nearly killed him. But- he is out with me next week for his first ride on a bike for a couple of years and I have arranged that a couple of his farmer friends are coming with us. He will have no chance of backing out and we will take him on a gentle 10 mile trip to the Cafe for coffee and pie. See how he feels and if he brags about how good he feels- We'll take him up a couple of killer hills.

:roflmao: Just be careful. If grandchildren are in the future, you don't want your son-in-law teaching them that you're the "crazy old cycling coot" from which they need to keep their distance!

They make a handsome couple. There's something special about wedding day pictures, with the bride and groom so happy and confident and ready to take on the world! All the best of luck to them, and to you, proud Papa!

Congrats, Stepfam! And contrary to the bumpf you might get here, you look just fine WITHOUT the jersey! Few things in life that get to you more than walking your darling daughter down the aisle. And if you get to torture the son-in-law on a bicycle, more better:D

What are you doing in that jersey at -- is that the reception?
How cool is that?

I looked so closely for photoshop signs, but it's real, isn't it?

Son in law used to ride and was good- Attempts are going to be made to get him back. And the Jersey- Couldn't ride on Saturday as I did have other things to do- but I did take it and put it on and my daughter did not freak out and there will be an "Official" pic of it.

And Sunday- Rode down to pick up my car- only 10 miles from home. As I was leaving one of my neighbours offered me a lift as he was taking the wife down to pick up her car. Think he must have got lost as he overtook me one mile from the Restaurant. All over breakfast he kept remarking about how fast I had ridden. Apparantly he followed me for about 1/2 mile and I was doing 20 mph. He did not overtake me till his wife said that he ought to get on a bike to get his butt into such good shape. And Breakfast was great- as usual.

At the wedding- No chance of dancing etc- so we had a caricaturist there- Attachment is supposed to be of me and the wife but it looks more like Liza Minelli and Alan Sugar. But unfortunately- we are both there in the sketch.

The wedding was at the pub? Or was that the reception afterwards. I DO recognize a pub when I see one. Don't ask me how.

Nice photos and congratulations. We have a wedding scheduled for our house on 06/07/08. It will be a fun day, I am sure a tear or two of happiness will be shed. Those are the good kind.

Now the whole event took place at my favourite restaurant in Friston Forest. Always go there when mountain biking for a Breakfast. In the UK-we have licenced premises for Weddings- Can't just have them anywhere- but this restaurant has a room that is licenced for small weddings. After the ceremony we had the "Wedding Breakfast" and to get you drooling Ist course- Fetta and Red Onion Tartlets- 2nd was Venison cooked in a red wine sauce and dessert was "Tarte au Citron"- Lemon pie to us mere mortals. That finished around 6pm and then we had the rest of the guests arrive at around 7pm. Buffet laid on for them and I did not have a chance to get any food in the evening. There was plenty of it but by the time the food arrived- I had to go and do something else- and when I did get back to the food- The greedy guests had finished it. Didn't matter though cos what I had eaten at the breakfast sufficed. just wish I could have got a bit of the Bramble pie that I saw at a distance-Bramble Pie- Fruits of the Forest, and they were picked from the forest earlier in the year.

Still no more talk of weddings- My wallet can't stand anymore. So Thanks for all your good wishes- and I'll get a pic of the Groom being slaughtered going up a hill next Sunday on his first bike ride in a couple of years.
