I'm thinking of a ride, too. Soon. It's already clouding up to the west.

Get out there while you can.

I was doing and out and back. I got out and got a flat. As soon as I had the wheel off it started raining. It was pouring a few minutes later when I started back for home. I left a wet trail through the bakery when I got my coffee. I need to find a way to use the trainer instead of riding all the time. I just hate the trainer. Cold temps and driving rain with high winds are making the trainer seem more desireable.
Now the thunder is crashing, so I just made it home.

I did a quick 45 minute climb/ride this morning up Morrison Canyon Rd (in Fremont). It stayed dry for me. :)

Is the wireframe aircraft still there?

Don't know, I just went to the top (from Mission blvd) and turned around. I didn't descend towards 680.

Where was the aircraft at?

Yesterday's storm left us some clean up. By the time we finished it was raining a pretty good clip. I'll be on the trainer later :( because it's better than the alternative.

No thunder in VV, Scotty. Glad you got home safely.

Near the top ... it's probably not there anymore. You wouldn't be able to miss it.

Geez, the ride to RHPhillips with the club was canceled from rain. Then I go to the gym to spin instead, and they were closed because of no electricity and flooding!! aarghh

I went out for a ride yesterday. It was gonna be a 2 hour ride on the fixie. Well it was an adventure. I was dodging debris the entire way. Seems that bike lanes are a popular place to put all the debris that was ripped from people's homes and tree's. So I go 16 miles out, the furthest from home and got a flat. So there I am trying to change a flat in the pouring rain, when I discover that the bolts on my wheels are different sizes.:mad:I figured out a way to wedge a piece of debris into the wrench to get the wheel off. Changed tubes and inflated, when boom!:eek:My new and only tube explodes.:(Of course now the wind starts howling and the rain increases. I have no choice but to call the wife. ( I have never called for a ride)It got real cold standing around waiting, something that was not a problem while riding. So I did running hill repeats till she showed up. It took 2 hours to thaw out.:o Sure hope todays ride is better. Gonna do loops and stay closer to home.

PS- the fixie is the only way to go in wet weather.:D

Wow Sean, I guess that's one way to get to know your bike ... the hard way. My ride was not as eventful as yours. Finally got my cannondale back to being rideable, so I think I'll sacrifice that on the wet roads and debris. And yea, you are dead on right on the dodging debree issue. I had to ride clear off in the slow lane on Foothill expy. I could not even ride in the bike lane if my life depended on it.

Sean,
You're not doing Early Bird crits?

Alphamoose

The aircraft was in the section of Morrison Canyon right before the paved road ends, so if you turn around at the intersection with Vargas you don't get to it.

spingineer

Does anybody know what the story is with the wireframe aircraft? Why is it there? How did it get there?

BigSean

Sean,
You're not doing Early Bird crits?

They dont do them in the rain. Plus Im sure the roads were not safe. If they did do them Im not interested in racing in those conditions. We shall see how the weather is next weekend. They are on Saturday are'nt they?:o

Today I got in a 2.5 hour ride and only got sprinkled on for the decent down Hicks. The sun was out for the climb. The roads are cleaner in the remote areas then the city streets.

BigSean

Shoot, they are sundays. Oh well. Now I screwed that up.

spingineer

I did a short loop up Mt. Eden. I guess I lucked out ... didn't sprinkle on me at all. Not bad ... got 40 miles in the past two days.

Sounds like you need to rail on the shop for jacking you on bolts. They best give you some Titanium bolts to make it up to you.

Did one of my long flat rides today. San Leandro to Pt. Richmond and back. 66 miles. Didn't rain at all, but got real cold in the afternoon. Lots of debris on the roads and trails + downed trees but they'd all been moved to the side. Got one flat, but not debris related, a short metal pin right through my tire tread into the tube.

spingineer

Damn, should have rode into work today. It's nice out today.
