I think he's trying to say: What's the recommended maintenance after getting a bike full of mud?

Hose it down with seawater and then dust it thoroughly with salt.

My hose is put away for the winter, so basically my hands get very dirty when I have to work on something.

I simply hose it off, then store it in a vacuum chamber, submerged in a tankful of warm WD40.

Id imagine you'd need to wipe everything down, clean the mud and grit off the rims, hubs, chain, and Derial's. Then go through and re-lube everything, then wipe of excess lube on chain.

LOL mud on the frame, not the chain, cogs and pivot points and bearings lol.

well, that's what I meant. Mud that doesn't affect function.

fork
levers
frame
wheels
seat
etc

I just hose mine off... If I get real anal about cleaning it, it seems I always end up with dirt somewhere it shouldn't be... then have to teardown the headset or hub or something... only thing i really clean is I degrease the chain and relube.

Clean the chain well. Don't just wipe it down. Either put it through a chain cleaner or take it off and clean it in a bottle. The sand particles in the mud is what will wear your chain out.

In Your area with the snow melt and slush, and all the salt on the roads (if you ride city streets at all ) definately get the hose out. Maybe relube the chain when dry.
