Foo - Before and After

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There are times when the simple kindness of friends can carry you through difficult times. On friday after work, (a trying day), I arrived home to find a package from Montana waiting for me. I was resigned to the fact that I would be arriving home to a beautiful wife struggling to maintain a quality of life after a recent chemo treatment but instead was given gifts, kind words and a reason to smile, (even if it is hard).

As you can see the kindness of friends and a community can always lift your spirits...
Thanks Cypress
Greg,
As the the ol' Scottish saying goes: keep yer pecker up.
oh, and remind me to never challenge you to an arm wrestle.
The human nature is very surprising indeed. Glad you received warm wishes in trying times. Good luck and my prayers are with you and your wife. :)

My wife commissioned a local artist to create it for my birthday. It is called "Climbing". Fits rather well with this portion of my life...

There are a lot of very nice people here--we don't always hear of the good that people do behind the scenes.
Way to go Cypress!
And Greg--keep climbing :) .

Here are a couple of Pics of the Lovely Laura wearing the gifts that Cypress sent her. She fortunately still has her hair and can still smile...

The sculpture in the last shot was done by the same artist as a gift to her. It is called Struggle.
A glass to you, your wife, and Cypress:
Oh hell, another.

I didn't see this thread the first time, but it's one of the best I have read in quite a while.
Best wishes for you and your wife Greg.
You go there Laura - cyber hug across the rock!
Didn't see this thread the first time around, but it reminded me of a post Cypress made a while back (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=357218).
You know those situations that make you step back and wonder "wow, if there is a god, why is it doing this to this person? Out of everyone I know, why them?" This is definitely one of those times. Greg is amazing. One of his outlooks on life is "If you can help someone do what they couldn't do for themselves, DO IT". The catch is, Greg actually lives that way!
After hanging out with him, KillerPenguin and I started our "long" drive back to NY. Somewhere in there, I blurt out "if I ever grow up, I want to be just like, Greg". KP and I declared Greg to be one of - if not the - coolest people either of us had ever met. That's two 21-ish year old guys gushing over another guy - and meaning it.
If you ever have the chance to meet up with, Greg... Don't pass it up. I thought people like this only existed in movies.
Anyway, a big +1 to what HigherGround said.
