I use a Cateye double wireless CD300DW. I took my bike out for a ride in the cold and lost some functions - clock slowed down, etc.
Batteries were new. I tried a reset to change the time, and found that I could not synch the computer with the sensor. Replaced all 4 batteries, and tried all kinds of sequences to get them to synch - no luck. I followed the instruction manual to the letter.

What happens is you push reset on the computer and after the initial display, it blinks "Synch ID". At that point, you're supposed to push reset on the sensor with the computer in range, and the computer is supposed to pick up the sensor ID. All it does is continue to blink until it times out.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!

You're not holding the comp next to the sending unit when you try to synch it, are you? It has to be more than 20 inches away but not too far that it won't pick up the signal. I have the same comp and had to leave the comp on the handlebar to get it synched.

That's not the problem - I tried with the comp in many locations and distances. still no synch.
Thanks,

Are you pushing the reset button on the sensor in far enough? If you have changed batteries, then pushing the reset button in far enough is the only thing I can think of that would cause the problem. Get an ink pen, nail, or something and push the button all the way in and hold it till you begin to see it sync up with the main unit. If that fails I would call Cateye---800-5CATEYE---303-443-4595. service@cateye.com. www.cateye.com

I pushed the reset on the sensor pretty far but I did not get the satisfying 'click' I got from the computer unit. I used my needle nose plyer and got right on top of the button. Also tried a fork tyne, a small phillips, and a straightened paper clip.

I've only just noticed this thread, so perhaps you have found the fix by now.

However, I recently had to do the same after I replaced the batteries in the main unit. I saw the same symptoms as you describe, and then I remembered that when the main unit is displaying "Check ID", you need to press the "set" button to change the display to "Sync ID"; then you need to press the button on the sending unit to sync (bearing in mind not to have the main unit too close to the sending unit).

Hope this helps -

WOW! I haven't tried that yet.
I'll take a look.
The instruction manual certainly wasn't written with users in mind, was it!
Thanks,

Nope!
The computer flashes Synch Id.

I can't get it to move off Synch Id by pushing any of the menu or function keys.
I pushed the hell out of the sensor reset button - no dice.

This is interesting. I am considering moving from my Strada Cadence for two reasons:
- I'd like to see more data without having to press the button to see different info
- I'd like to get rid of the wires (if there's a reliable wireless unit out there).

I like how this unit is color segmented. But if it's flaky in use, I have no use for it.

Did this particular unit ever work? Was this your first ride with it?

This has been a great unit for several years. It just got flakey in the cold.

I have found occasionally when that happens that the head can't see the sensor. It was a miniscule adjustment that was needed, probably because replacing the sensor batteries moved the sensor slightly.

Also, a slight rotation of the head around the bars can do the same thing. Likewise occurring when replacing the head in the mount after replacing its batteries.

hmmm - I don't think that's what's happening. I tried multiple locations and still it blinks Synch Id

Hi, I just went through the same frustrating experience. It turns out that the button I needed to push was number 4 , tech assistance at the number posted above for Cat Eye. The chap on the phone was very helpful and walked me through the entire sync and setup process. The missing step for me was that after pressing the reset button on the computer, you press and hold the reset button on the back of the sending unit until the computer shows all zeroes. How I was supposed to understand this from the instruction manual is beyond me but there you go. I hope this works for you.

When mine would not sync I called Cateye and they sent me a new sensor for no charge, two days later I was back in business.

try holding the transmitter button down for an unusually long time. The instructions mention 5 seconds but some seem to take even longer.
