Bicycle Mechanics - 1/8" Chain with 3/32" Chainring

Hey guys. I'm upgrading to a Miche drive on my track bike and at the same time going to 1/8". The only problem is that I don't have the money for a new crank set at the moment. Can I safely switch to a 1/8" chain and rear cog while keeping my 3/32" chain ring? I would estimate that I'd be riding that setup for at least a month and a half before I bought a new crank set.
Thanks.
A 1/8 chain will work with 3/32 rings and cogs. Wider can fit over narrower, but not the other way around.
