Helloooo Clydesdales! :D

My in-laws today called to say that they had purchased a new stationary 'bent and no longer had a need for the previous airdyne-type "bike" they had before. Of course I couldn't turn it down for numerous reasons, so I accepted. That, and they got me a Bass Pro Shops gift card for Christmas, a clever lure to get us to come back and see them very soon! ;)

Anyway, does anyone have experience with these? I figured I'd throw it down in my office, and pedal a bit at night during the Eternal Darkness And Ice And Snow ANd Everything Non Bike Friendly Time here in Nebraska.

AirDynes are a great upper and lower body workout :)

I've never been a big fan of stationary bikes since a trainer will allow you to train on the geometry that you ride year round.

That said, if you have the space, it can't hurt. Worst that can happen is that you pass it on to someone else.

The fishing gift cards are nice though. I haven't been fishing in several years and there's nothing better than a fresh shore lunch! Walleye is my favorite.

I have a Schwinn Airdyne I bought new in 1987. Rode it alot 20 years ago and dropped 30 pounds in a hurry. I think it has nearly 10k miles on it. Then lost interest, put the weight back on . . . and have difficulty with not enough discipline to make a habit of riding it now. Recently bought a new bicycle and hope I will find riding around the neighborhood more fun so I will be able to stick with the excercise.

As someone else mentioned . . . you will get an upper body workout that is impossible when spinning on your 'real' bike.
