Fifty Plus (50+) - Thirty Pounds of Beans and Suntan Lotion Today

It was another unseasonably warm day down south. This afternoon it was 79 degrees. I've been thinking of taking a week off next month to do a short tour. I had not ridden the Trek 520 with a load on it in at least a year. So I put the racks on, loaded 30 pounds of beans in the panniers (5 in each front and 10 in each back) and did a 20 mile out and back. The south wind was pretty rough coming back, but I had forgotten how much more stable it becomes when you put another 10 pounds down below the front axle. Anyway...it was a good day in shorts and short sleeves.

10 pounds of black beans and 20 pounds of pinto. If I refined them I could run the generator of a small city.

Great idea for a test run. Also, I think that's about the coolest title for a post that I've seen in a while.
