Hi All
One of my supplier factories is planning to upgrade one of their open model frames into an integrated-seatpost version. Please check these out: a photo the original model and the ISP version geometry chart.
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=62394&stc=1&d=1199688067

To change the frame, they'll have to change all five molds(for five sizes). And it will cost a lot.....They'll need an order of at least 30 frames to balance the cost.
Details of the groupbuy:
1. Price:
The price for frame/fork/FSA Orbit Headset/Ritchey Seatpost Adaptor/not-too-complicated painting will be around $650-$700
2. Weight:
The weight of the original frame(sizs 51) is 1000g, but I was told that technically it can be made lighter than 900g and so is what I(we) want. So the target weight for the ISP frame is 1000-1050g. And don't worry about the quality and performance, the engineers are very very experienced(one of them designed Easton70/90 forks, most of them involved in designing Kuota Kredo and Kalibur).
3. Size:
Original model size: Seat tube c-t 49/51/53/55/57. The ISP version doesnt make any difference in size fitting. Since it is a sloping geometry frame, you will definitely need more data to decide the size, I'll post the geometry chart of all sizes asap.
____SeatTube C-T ___TopTube C-C ___HeadTube
XS_____46.7____________51.0__________10.5
S ______49.7____________53.5__________12.5
M______52.7____________55.0__________15.5
L ______55.7____________57.0__________18.5
XL _____58.7____________59.0__________20.5

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=62587&stc=1&d=1199886417
4. Painting:
My idea is simply to copy others' design(graphics, not logos..). Several examples here:
Carrera Ilos: http://www.carrera-podium.it/images/ilos-r-69.jpg
De Rosa King3: http://www.marchasmiticas.com/images/2007/citas/eurobike/derosaking3.jpg
Scott Addict: http://www.prolocotrade.si/slike/katalog/kolesa/scott_addict_r2_cd.jpg
Giant TCR ISP: http://www.bikextreme.it/Telai%20strada/Advanced%20Team%20ISP%20foto.jpg
Please vote for one of them. If you have any other ideas or even your own design, please post it.
5. Shipping:
EMS, $80 to USA, $85 to Europe(except Holland), $70 to Australia
UPS, $170 to Holland.
If you're interested in the groupbuy and located in other countries, pm me and I'll let you know the shipping cost and post it here as well.
6. Custom signature:
OK this is not new but I bet some of you must be interested. $40 extra for a custom signature(size <30mm*80mm, in one color only, top quality water decal..) on the top tube.
7. Time
It will take quite some time to change the molds and make the frames. Engineers will come up with an estimated lead time a couple of days later.
8. Update
If anything new comes up, I'll update it here in the main post, so please keep an eye on it if you are interested.

Any questions? (I'm in mainland China, I can't possibly reply to your questions as soon as you expected, but I'll try my best)

-Patrick

Are these frames from Taiwan or China? I know you are in China, but I don't know where these manufactured.

God bless the internet.

Will it be possible just to have it in nude carbon, to make it even cheaper?
What's the weave, 3k or 12k?

looks like the pedalforce RS. if so, why not make an isp version of the RS2, which is WAY sweeter looking.

Hammertoe

Definitely not the RS...

The RS has straight seat stays, these are curved...

And the head tube is 20 cm longer on a RS with a 53.5 cm effective top tube...

I'm interested, but I would need a full geometry chart before I could commit.

A 57 sounds small, even for a compact frame.

Some people, like me, prefer straight tubes. Nude carbon would allow for 3rd party paint w/o having to pay extra to strip the clearcoat first.

i'm also interested.

a full geometry chart would be nice to see.

paintjob like the scott addict with only a few coloured lines on the clearcoted carbon would be nice.

I'd like to see some of the carbon as well, with a bit of paint for contrast. Kinda like the "Verus Amor" by Patriot http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=228123
but not as much color... and more carbon.

to my mind the seatpost-dome is very short with only 150mm.

+1
Shouldn't the 150 mm (or more) start at the line intersecting the virtual top tube and seat tube/post?
Notice the frames from Giant, De Rosa and Carrera.

How much height will the seat-post adapter add? On my current bike, my measurement from center of bb - seat post rails is 63cm. I'm interested in the "51c-c tt" model, which has a seat post size of 61.7c-t. Will the seat-post adapter be enough for about ~1.3cm extra height?

Also, I'm interested in it without graphics so it'll be cheaper.

Thanks for the drawings, good to hear that there will be 250mm because 150mm wasn't enough.
I looked in the '08 Ritchey catalog but can't find the ISP adapter - how does it work?

in fact i asked them to draw the seatpost shorter, due to the file size limit of BF....

the adaptor is not in the catalogue
i ordered them from ritchey taiwan office.

made by a taiwan factory in mainland china.

Some of us would find this statement confusing. "Taiwan factory in mainland China"... the last time I check, Taiwan has not succumb to China yet.

Or are you referring to Taiwaness investors open a factory in mainland China?

I've always wondered, what can you do if you cut the ISP too short? Is there a way to "fix" this?

1. is it possible to buy frame only with no fork?
2. is it possible to buy a frame having seen one out of the mold?
3. will the frame have a warranty?
4. have any impact/crash test been done on the original frame and what are the results?
5.what are the ride characteristics of the original frame?
thx.

1. yes of course. I'll post the price for frame only when the final price is fixed.
2. yes if we have 30 buyers signed up and you can buy after that.
3. yes 3 years warranty
4. all products meet European Union's EN standards
5. the frame is designed to be stiff and light..i've never tried riding one myself.

I think this might be the Ritchey ISP Adapter. One website says it's 165g, kinda heavy. Similar to full lightweight seatposts!

no its ok i understand your concern
the engineers have worked for Martec for over ten years, which is the largest carbon bike manufacturer in the world
and several years ago they left and started their own business, and they are doing pretty well so far.
that's all you need to know about the manufacturer of the frame.

I'll be interested, you can contact me on my personal email if you prefer (I'll be able to check more often); 'ohhyea@hotmail.co.uk'. If you would be able to post full geometry diagram that would be brilliant. Also- how much to post to Jersey Channel Islands (part of the United Kingdom).

Cheers,

Jack

I'm guessing it's very similar to VW Factory in mexico, GM factory in Canada, Coach factory in China.
I was waiting for those comments to come;)

I was wondering how many of these Taiwanese Bike Companies are purely in Taiwan, or is it like many US companies that have a large factory presence in China?

HI.... nice frame.. looks like kuota kharma... too similar, same geometry... Hmm $$ are we talking about here? (probably i missed that part)

I think Phallenthoul should do one group buy for carbon wheels. Companies are charging too much for them...

Thanks.

Still can't figure out a Taiwaness factory in Mainland China or what? It's like saying an American Factory in Mexico, yes they exist, but the US and Mexico recoginize each other as seperate countries - last I heard it's not the same with these two countries.

I wouldn't brag about it... especially when it has nothing to do with the thread.
