Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm in Ireland and I'm trynig to get a 56cm Surly Pacer. None of the local bike stores around here have it in stock and the main UK distributor is quoting a 2 month delay in getting it in stock. Does anyone know any shop in Europe that has the 56cm Pacer in stock or any shop in the US that has it that will ship it to Ireland for a reasonable fee. Thanks.

have you contacted Surly directly to ask them the best way to get one to Europe? they might be able to help.

Hey, yep I tried Surly and they haven't been able to recommend anywhere in particular to get it, they just said try the LBS. I'm waiting to see if they can explain the two month delay, given that the Pacer is a current model.

that's a drag. well i know they're a fairly small outfit getting a lot of business, so that may explain the delay some. i got a Crosscheck via my LBS a couple of years ago and it took a good month to get the bike from Minnesota to Vermont.

I ordered my LHT from this place. Cheap shipping too, only 30 euro for a frame to Ireland.

Hey I just ordered it from bike-components.de. Here's hoping they actually have it in stock.

If they don't, or can't get it they'll let you know. My LHT was backordered a few weeks and they threw in free shipping for the hassle. Pretty good service if you ask me.

I just got an e-mail from them to say that the frame wasn't in stock. Just waiting to hear back on the expected delivery date - hope it's not too far away.

Grr, just got an e-mail back from them to say it would be mid-end February before it's in stock. This sucks.
At least they were honest with you and didn't string you along. Try AE Bike in the States if you really can't wait and are willing to pay for shipping. Or even better one of the English builders like Mercian who build great frames for just a little more money.

Yep true that they were honest with me.
Anyway in the end I broke down and got my second choice instead - the Crosscheck. Not sure if that counts as a road bike though :)

The cross check is a great bike. It's extremely versatile. My wife has one and loves it. Where did you order the cross check from?

I ordered it from bike-components.de . Very much to their credit they were very flexible about changing my order. The Cross Check would be in stock next week and hopefully be here by the end of next week, early the week after. Can't wait!

So two months after I got the frame and I still haven't finished it off.
I ended up getting the following components with it
- Full Shimano 105 Groupset (I had to replace the brakes with some Deore LX cantilevers seen as how the short reach brakes won't work with the Cross Check)
- Brooks B17 saddle
- Mavic Aksium 2008 wheels
- Look Keo Classic pedals
- Generic seatpost, stem, handlebars and headset.
I wonder if I should have just bought the bike complete because at this stage I would have nearly two months riding under my belt. But overall the process of building the bike up has been very rewarding and I know when I go to do it the next time that it'll be alot quicker.
