my friend has a full shimano 600 groupo on his dad's bike, how is that groupo compared to now days.? is it like ultegra? 105?
If my memory serves me correctly, it was the equal to Ultegra back in its day.
Yes 600 made a slow transition into "Ultegra." 600 has been around since the 1970s and has always been the #2 in Shimano's lineup, just under DuraAce. A bike originally equipped with 600 should be a pretty decent bike.
Yup, my '91 Trek 1500 came with full 600, single pivot brake calipers etc. etc.
Really good stuff for a goober like me.
Runs like a fine watch.
Shortly after then, they (Shimano) started calling it Ultegra.
