without destroying it?? I have tried to gently pry it out but it deforms before even remotely moving....any ideas?? I did a search and did not find anything.........cone and cup.....

I'd wait until more knowledgeable folks chime in. However, I just had to remove the dustcap from my Shimano 7800 hub. If we're talking about the same thing, it was a plastic ring shoved in there between the cone and the bearings. I freaked out (given the effort and deformation) too when I had to remove it. However, I just added a bit more pressure with the screwdriver and "wham!" I got a screwdriver in the head!
Oh, and I the dust seal came out too. It just takes a little effort (and dexterity))

Leaving some penetrating oil on the circumference edge where it meets the hub body overnight might help a little if there's some corrosion you can't see. The hub is alum and the cap sometimes steel, which can cause galvanic corrosion between if they didn't smear a little grease on before installing.
