Anyone know of a rear bike light that goes with the surly nice rack?
Rear blinkies these days all seem to be designed to fit around seat posts or on pack loops. I have an older rear blinkie from MEC that screwed its clip to the rear body of the lamp. I removed the clip and bought a small flat bracket at the hardware store. The bracket bolts to the rack mount and the lamp screws a bit lower to the bottom of the bracket. Does that make sense and answer your question?
Planet Bike offers a rack mount, I have one of those and it screw right into the Nice Rack on the back and you can put any of the rear lights in it.
I have two mounted to the side of the rack - used bike tubes as shims - I'll see who made them when I get a chance - Have these mounted this way because some panniers may keep them be seen other wise -do the same for most other racks not just the my Nice rack. My spouse likes her's pened to the panniers themselves along with with various reflecters.

I use the Busch & Miller 4D Toplight Permanent. It has a 2 bolt mounting system, so it doesn't fit directly onto the rack, but Peter White Cycles sells a "Single Hole Bracket" which makes mounting to the Surly Nice Rack possible.

I have a Blackburn Mars 2.0 mounted with a little piece of steel with three holes drilled in it.

Not a Surly rack, but you can mount light down using a similar setup.
I can't recommend any lights with symmetrical beams as they blind oncoming riders/cars. You can get a sweet light with a vertical cut off from B&M - comes in dynohub versions [in my photo] or battery versions:

You did not say if it is for front or rear.
On the front, I wrapped some rubber strip cut from an inner tube around the horizontal bar on the rack so that I could us a handlebar mounted light on it. I know this description is not clear, but the picture makes it clear. The light is not on the bike in the photo, but the light bracket is shown on the rack.

For rear I use a vintage Vista light but they are no longer made so I am not describing the bracket, as each light uses different mounting.

That's what I use as well.

Looks like you wrapped the cross bars with foam and attached the lights with bands?

I forgot to say that when you wrap the rubber strip around the rack, put some tension on it so it grips the rack well and does not rotate.

Yes. That popsicle stick is there to adjust the height. ;)

Here is what I've done:
The front set up is a Paul braze on mount, attached with a bolted through M5 bolt, to the front Surly rack braze on with a ToPeak BarXtender attached to that and a Cygolite DuoCross and battery attached to the BarXtender. I have it folded back in the attached picture. If I am using the top rack, it can be extended forward out of the way.
The rear set up is a cut down Planet Bike light mount attached with an M5 bolt.
Apologies for the quality of the pictures.
