I'm just getting into mountain biking. I bought a new bike in June (marin Eldridge Grade) but hurt my knee training for a local 10k. So my new bike sat in the garage while I was in PT for 3 months. Finally got the green light from my Doc.

It was great. Nothing too technical (I'm still getting used clipless). Cool weather, an open trail, what a great day. I can't wait to go back next weekend and hit another trail. This could be a new addiction.

Hey BrownDog, if you've just come off PT for a bad knee, consider NOT using clipless. Especially as a newbie, you've got a lot happening all at once w/o trying to get used to riding with clipless pedals. I'd suggest switching to standard platform/flat pedals until you get used to riding off-road. Then, switch back to clipless when you know you're knee is 100%.

Not a bad idea. Thanks. The thought of knee surgery really freaks me out.

I'll look for some platforms the next time I'm in the shop.

Yeah, knee surgery is no fun at all. I am at about 3 months since I had my ACL reconstructed and meniscus repaired.

What exactly did you do?
