Mountain Biking - Kona Hoss

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Looks like my old Kaitai has finally kicked the bucket. The head tube is out of alignment and the rear dropouts are so worn that they allow the rear wheel to shift position under hard pedalling (brakes rub then shifting is out of adjustment). So I'm thinking of moving its parts to a new frame. I'm considering the Kona Hoss and wanted some feedback on it. I do mostly moderate XC riding with drops to 2' to 3' and a little hucking. The main thing is my weight, I'm around #260 and can be pretty hard on equipment. Is this bike as durable as advertised and will it have similar geometry to my current bike? Also, I believe I saw it advertised on Kona's site for only $149.00 (frame only) can that possibly be correct???

I test rode the Hoss before i bought the Dawg. I like the Hoss very much. It took me forever to find a place that sold it. I didnt have much of a place to test ride it but it was smooth as a babies bottom. But when i test rode the Dawg, i fell in love. I got the FS b/c, well, it was a free bike for me but still i couldnt spend a buttload of money on it.

The hoss is this years version of the 2002 Kona Roast/Stuff/Chute. That original Out of bounds series was remade into a dirtjumping series for 03 which left no burly fr hardtails for bigger riders in 03. So in 04 the created the hoss. Now the reason for that history is I own a 2002 Roast and weight around 260 and find the bike perfect. It can handle everything I have thrown at it. the frame is virtually bombproof to a regular rider. I would highly recommend it.
