Cars are Ok. They have their place. That's what garages are made for.

They make great chicken coops too.

They are also a great place to confine rednecks (now if we could just get them to stay there :D )
And a great place to store dead bodies..oh...urm....

You have to look very hard to find a serial killer, drive-by shooter or bank robber without a car. The car has made it practical to dispose of dead bodies miles from the scene of the crime. Now thats an advancement :thumbdn:
There was a guy last summer who robbed a Taco Bell on a bike, from the drive-thru window, no less!

I did actually find a serious use for one a few weeks back. It frightened off a dog that was chasing me. I wasn't totally confident in my ability to outrun that mongrel

Hah!!!:D He probably got mad because the employees wouldn't pay attention to him because he wasn't driving. See, driving is a root of immorality....

Chris L, didn't you know? Frame mounted pumps are great for whacking mongrels! They definately weren't for inflating tires! I carry an old top-tube mounted zefal that I keep my hands on during one particular section of my ride. If the gate is open, out comes a rather large and nasty cannine. One good WHAAP and he leaves me alone!
BTW, I love dogs, just not when they're chasing me and trying to bite my arse off!

I feel the same way. I tend to use a squirt of the waterbottle. The thing is, if you aim anything at the dog, you have to take your eyes off what's in front of you, even if only for a moment.

Have you guys ever had any success ordering food from a drive through on a bike? usually I find it does not work because the system they have to dected the cars is not activated by the low weight of the bike :(

Same here. Pesky drive throughs, I walked through on once, but that didn't work either. I suppose Sonics drive-in would work, there all you have to do is push a little button!

I generally don't eat at those sort of places anyway. I think if it really came down to it, one could ride better on an empty stomach than on McDonalds.

PB,
I tried paying my water bill at the "drive through" window of the county water department. They told me I had to come inside. So I locked my bike, unstrapped my gear, took off my helmet, put on deodorant and came inside.
Funny thing is, the next time, I brought my bike inside with me, no complaints (wha?), and each time after that. Comments were, "I see you guys going down College Ave. all the time!"
Ach! :irritated

True. I tried it once a few blocks from my house at a McPuke's just for a joke. Of course there were 3 of us and our combined weight was over 600 lbs (and I only weigh 150). It worked for a while (she started taking our order) until she saw us by way of the camera and refused to serve us. The reason? "You're on....bikes!" We debated with her for awhile and eventually gave up. It's worth trying if only for your own amusement!

I went through one once to get a shake for wee Dougal who was sitting on the back of the bike.
No problem. In fact the girl serving seemed quite delighted by the whole thing.
