Charity Events - "The Lung Ride", our 19th year!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
“The Lung Ride” (http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/home.jsp?id=1692), our 19th year! Join the American Lung Association for a 3-day ride along the Central Coast of California. Can’t make a 3-day ride, we now have a 1-day option. Visit the towns of Paso Robles, Cayucos, Cambria, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, Avila Beach and Pismo Beach all the while helping people with lung disease. We now have e-commerce to help with your fundraising! For the full story about “The Lung Ride” (http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/home.jsp?id=1692), please visit our website. Still can’t make “The Lung Ride” (http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/home.jsp?id=1692) but would like to help people with lung disease, donate to one of our many riders or help sponsor a team. Remember "When you can't breathe, nothing else matters".

Looks like a great ride! I went to the site, but couldn't find too much info about mileage, etc on the first and third days. That would help, because my wife is interested in doing this, but is a little more of a noob.

I talked to my wife and she is going to add more info about the first and third day. When we first started this ride we tailored it for beginner/ novice riders. We have kept that to this day, but have added more challenging route for the more experience riders. The first day’s easier route has a climb as you leave the start of about 6-7 miles around 3%. After winding through back roads you reach one of the most popular SAG stops with apple wedges topped with fresh homemade caramel. Then there are a couple challenging climbs before you drop into the seaside town of Cayucos for the first nights stay. There are 5 rest stops on the first day’s route and rover SAGs to help riders that can’t make it up the hills. On the first day the easier route is about 35 miles and the route is open approximately 6 hours. The first day’s alternate route has much more climbing and is designed for more advanced riders.
Third day has one route. After you leave the hotel in San Luis Obispo it is a 12 mile ride to breakfast in Pismo Beach. After breakfast the route heads east into the Edna Valley area with a stop at the Edna Valley Winery. Then it is back to San Luis Obispo and the finish. The third day’s route is 35 miles and is open 5-6 hours with very little climbing.
All 3 days have numerous rest stops and rover SAGs. We have every level of rider on “The Lung Ride” from beginner to expert. Our experienced rest stop/SAG teams have been with us for a minimum of 10 years and are there to help you in any way. If you need any more info please let me know.

Great! Sounds like we're going to sign on. Do you fill up fast? Actually, are there still spots available? And, is there an e-mail list we could get on for updates?

I think my wife has all the SAGs and rest stops filled, I’ll check. If you can’t do the 3-day ride and are just available Saturday why not come over and do our 1-day ride.
