So I am going to Australia for a study abroad and I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my bike. If I take it with me, then I have a bike where the only money getting put out is the airline fees but then I have this massive hassle of physically getting it there with all of the other baggage I will have. Or I can buy a bike there and sell it when I leave. I have e-mailed some shops about prices but no responses yet. I was just wondering if there is anyone in Brisbane who either has bike to sell, knows someone who is selling, or anything of the like. I figure a bike for less than $200 would pay for the flight charges. Though I do really like my bike. Hope this makes sense what I am asking and I hope this would be the correct forum for this. Thanks for any help.

Dan

P.S. If I do take it with me, to partially get around the carrying issue I would be rigging up some sort of strap so I can carry it like a really odd duffle bag or maybe a really big portfolio is more like it but you get the idea, I hope.

Two good places in Brisbane, both are close to the centre of town

Bicycle Revoultion

http://bicyclerevolution.org.au/wp/

They recycle old bikes

and

Epic Cycles

http://www.epiccycles.com.au/

Undoubtably the best touring / commuting bike shop in Brisbane.

Hope that this helps :)

Hey thanks. The bike revolution stuff is really cool. We have something very similar where I live now (Asheville, NC). I e-mailed them right away. I had found epic earlier and had e-mailed them as well. I basically e-mailed any bike shop in the area that I could find an e-mail for. I also found out that Craigs list is in Australia but there were absolutely no bikes in Brisbane, very sad. Thanks again for hooking me up with that site.
