I have always used one on my mountain bike and several of my customers swear by them. They really do work great and a mountain bike is the perfect application since the cables get gummy very easily in the rear housing loop.

They do work well. I use them on my rear brake cable.
I would but I run Hydro brakes, and full-length derailuer housing. No where to put the Avid rollamajig :(
We have them on all our bikes, and as the neighborhood "wrench" I put them on the MTB's I maintain. It's a good product and a great dollar-to-function ratio!

I used to use them (liked them, too), but discovered that full length housing really is a better idea.
