I popped the bearings out of my lefty hub and went to the local bearings and drives supplier and ordered a set today. It will end up being about 65-70$ and I think I will have saved by doing this.
Cannondale would probably charge twice as much for the same bearings. Anyone else done this?
I thought all of those monoforks had been recalled for safety reasons ...

I beleive there were some issues on the first year or so but to my knowledge no recall. They are steady equipping bikes with them as of 2004. I love mine. Works great.

Sam, get the numbers off the seals and check with a bike shop that orders from BTI. They sell a bunch of bearings and often the prices are cheaper than a local bearing wholesaler. (They can be crazy exspensive)

Rev Chuck, rthanks for the info. I will check into it but I already ordered from the local industrial bearings wholesaler here. They were in fact an odball bearing which had to be shipped from a warehouse in TX but with Cannondale that is no big surprise. Their proprietary gizmos are usually a bit odd, especially the lefty fork. I get lots of strange looks when riding even though they have been out over 5 years.
