Hello
I'm thinking of getting this folder-at a real push i might be able to get the TT version-is it worth the extra £150?
I havent got a car, i bike/public transport everywhere-i want something fast and reliable,
any feedback much appreciated.
My apologies for putting this thread in the introductions section!

It depends if you want to pay an £150 for a more stretched out and aerodynamic position. With the TT you will have more potential hand positions than a flat bar, but if you are not going to be using it for long rides, I'd go with the standard Pro model.

Thanks for the reply.
The guy at the shop said the TT gears were much better and i'd notice the difference riding it, but i'll probably go with the pro,

I very much doubt it - the transmission is different, but I doubt the ride or gear changes would be discernibly better.

Try both if you can though, what I say don't count for much!
+1 on the gear range. The main difference is in the handlebar setup, isn't it, flat bar + barends vs bullhorns? I'd go for the Pro.
The Speed Pro also has V-brakes and the TT has the road brakes. I prefer V-brake with 16-20 inch wheels.

good point Loch
V-brakes - why? Once the brake calipers are matched to the correct pulling action levers, stopping power should be similar.

I don't have enough experience with new calipers to comment, although I've heard a couple of complaints about the Speed TTs stopping power over on the Dahon forums.
Calipers do provide the ability to use Road components etc. and save weight.
V-brakes on the Speed Pro also give you more options for tire selection.

the shimano brakelevers and integrated shifter will not work with v brakes ( unless one usues a gizmo who converts teh cablepull from caliper brake to v brake .... called travel agent ) therefore the TT has caliper brakes.
I like disc brakes first than v brakes and than caliper.... The caliper need to be long reach which doesnt help.... the caliper brakes work fine, just that everybody is used to the superior brakepower of v brakes that caliper brakes ( even good ones ) seem to be anemic

Just got my speed pro last night. This can be used for fast training rides. When I use it for bike tours, just add on a pair of broader tyres and a rear rack for panniers. Riding posisition is comfortable and can be adjusted for a more agrassive position. So in this bike you have a 2in 1. :)

Me too. Why aren't there more 16/20" bikes with discs? Weight?

Rotors can get bent by knocks when the bike is in its folded state (or damged by ham-handed attempts at folding the bike).

Slightly off topic, but are there tires that fit on the speed pro rims besides the Stevios? I tried to find some, but the rims don't seem to fit larger (width) tires (ordered some 1.25 tires, had to send them back). I must be missing something.

Make sure you're ordering tires with ERTO 406 (mm) designation... I run the 406/1.35 Marathon Racer on my SpeedPro and 406/1.75 Tioga Comp on my JetXP (same rims as SpeedPro)
