They left the steer tube until the customer buys the bike and has it sized to them, then they will cut it off the proper length.

I wish more manufacturers would leave the steerer tube uncut, so that the buyer would have the option of having it cut to their desired length. Then people who like a higher stem wouldn't have to spend money to buy a stem extender that is much heavier than the piece of metal they cut off of the tube.

One of the Bug bears of the modern fashion of riding with your head between your knees. Glad to see that a top rate manufacturer that builds top end bikes- realise that it is not only 20 year old beanpoles that have been riding since birth- that aspire to one of their bikes.

Boreas came with room to put a 1" spacer between the headtube and stem- but the TCR came with about 3". Have to admit that the TCR stem is going to be lowered- but initially Boreas could have done with a bit more height.

Me too. It's easier to make a short tube from a long tube than the other way around.

That's where you mount your machine gun to repel dogs and automobiles!

No it's not. He's just kidding. It's a new high-speed police bike, and the post is where the flashing lights go.

They could cut that thing off three times, and it would still be too short for Tom.

You're all wrong !! That's where the additional handlebars go.
The higher the stem, the more bars you can add.
Many hand positions make for many happy miles.

I still think threadless headsets are an asinine concept. If I want to change my handlebar height, I loosen a hex nut or Allen bolt, raise or lower the bars, and retighten.

I'm still working on figuring this one out.

+1!!!
Trekking bars high and drops low. Cut an old straight bar down for mounting between for accessories like lights, handlebar bag, GPS, cycle computer, and such gadgetry.:D

Just something new to get people to buy new bikes.
