I am headed east bound on Prince from the North Freeway road which is really a one way southbound and north bound on the other side or west I10 frontage road which is really east WTF. And in the picture the sign hasn't changed from Freeway road (southbound I am guessing).
I took a picture of where I am standing.

Now the question. Knowing you need to go over two sets of railroad tracks not at 90 degrees.
Per the yellow sign in front of you. Which lane do you take?

What happens to the right lane after the RR tracks? If you move over to the crosswalk button and push it, will the light change so you can get across the intersection and wait on the other side?
If the light was green as I came up to it, I'd stay in the lane I'm in until I could get over to the right lane. The angle of the tracks would also figure in, but I'd have to know what angle that was.

If I understand correctly, I stay in the lane through the intersection and merge right after the traffic merges from the right.

As the yellow sign states there is no merging both traffic lanes continue.

It would be illegal to go to the right of the island from where the photo was snapped.
You really have no option other than taking the lane until you are across the RR tracks and it is safe to merge into the right lane. That is what I would do and I wouldn't be concerned about it.
Naturally, I would wait for the train to pass. :D
Waiting for the light would be optional though! :D :D

Take the same lane as the cars beside you and merge right after passing the tracks. Am I seeing this incorrectly?

I would, most likely, take the lane before reaching the WI-10 Frontage Rd intersection; the heavier the traffic, the earlier I shift my position. I would then stay in that position across the intersection, going to the left of the island. In order to get the proper angle on the RR tracks, I would do an S curve in the lane starting from the right side of the lane. That should put me across the tracks at close to right angles, ending on the left side of the lane. From there I would begin my move back to the right lane, and the bike lane.
If I were heading east on W Prince Rd from N Business Center, I would probably take the lane as I was approaching the N Freeway Rd intersection and stay in that lane position all the way through.
The S curve across the tracks might be tricky with traffic. Motorists might not understand what I was doing and why. Before leaving the centered lane position to set up on the right for the S curve I would signal a left turn.

Really not hard to figure out. Stay in the lane you're traveling in. Picture that you are driving a car. You are a vehicle. Same thing. That includes any other traffic laws.

Tracks you don't have to cross at 90, but as close as possible. 60deg has always been OK for me. (There is a place in Tempe where the tracks going across road at 30deg and by using two lanes I can cross ~60deg, but it would require me to use three lanes to cross at 90deg ;) )

I would not try that I the Pacific Northwest; maybe you can get away with it in Arizona, where it is dry, but here, you will go down at times at 60 degrees on a railroad track (it's wet here most of the winter).
I think I'd try to find an alternate route. But walking across is my next best answer to this. Otherwise, you are in a situation with impatient traffic behind and beside, which can be crunch time.

Yeah, I almost mentioned dry conditions. However this past 1-2 months I've crossed those (not the ones pictured, but the ones I wrote about later) tracks at 60deg when raining about a half dozen times. Luck is certainly part of it perhaps. ;)

I'd go wherever I wanted, and do it when the intersection isn't busy -- like in your photo and in the spy satellite shots on Google. ;)
But seriously -- I'd go straight across N. Freeway Rd to the island with the stoplight pole, then cross the turning lane when it's clear. "Divide & conquer", as they say.

Easy. Ride through on the main lane, watch for traffic from the right hand merge Then signal right for a move to the right lane when it is safe.

What lane would you take if you were a motorcyclist? The left. That is what the road rules say so that is what a VC cyclist should do.
