This might have been answered I tried doing a search but came up with nothing.. What is LA listening to on his ear piece. Music? Coach? Where does he mount the radio assuming that’s what it is?

Thanks
Matt

Very high tech two-way radio on descrete frequencies.

It's a two-way radio that he uses to keep in touch with the team director. You'll see him sometimes talking to his collar. I think that the whole team can hear all of their teammembers transmissions.

My understanding is that the range of these radios is only a few KM.

Where the radio is mounted is a great question.

I'd love to hear a few minutes of one of their transmissions.

I believe USPS uses the Alinco "credit-card sized" DJ-C5T VHF/UHF radios (http://www.alinco.com/Products/DJC5T.shtml). You can buy these in high end electronics stores and HAM radio supply shops. You will of course need proper licenses to use them (in the US at least). I saw a special on USPS back in 2001 and I seem to recall seeing one of the Posties stuffing the radio inside his jersey. Maybe their jerseys have special inside pockets? Then again, come to think of it I think they were wearing the long sleeve zip-over on top of their other jersey so maybe he was sticking it in the back pockets. I'm not sure exactly how they route the cable for the earpiece/mic though.

the 2 way radio is mounted in the cyclists back pockes. you sometimes see the riders with their hands in there pockets fiddling with them.
