Dear Son of ronex,

You have received a warning at Bike Forums.

Reason:
-------
Inappropriate Language

I don't care if you type ****, but you can't bypass the language filter by adding a period (cun.t). Also, that particular word has misogynistic tones you should avoid when posting here. Thanks,

Kemmer

i mean the forum has rules, if you don't like them, you could just not post here

when you run your own forum you can make up your own rules

I think the forum rules are stupid. Spam and absolute stupitity should be banned. But as far as cussing, I think its really stupid.

Do 5 yearold kids post on here? No. So why can't we be potty mouths?

Yes, it's not like you can't purchase vBulletin software, licenses, and server space yourself.

Its not like we're going to start our own bike website that is of the same magnitude of this one. This is a great website, I just think a little more freedom would be nice.

Input never hurt.

Very off topic for SSFG. The smart thing would have been to talk to Kemmer first if you disagreed, or another mod.

Or to have followed the rules in the first place.

I'm very sorry that your vocabulary is so limited you cannot adequately express yourself with the thousands of words in the English language which are not considered swearing. I don't see why your lack of education should result in the changing of the forum guidelines, though.

why is limiting swearing such a hindrance to you on these boards? and my dream is for my 5 year old son to start biking with me, so yes, maybe a 5 year old will post on here some day

donnamb

Well, 13 is the age limit for registering and posting, but we do know of kids younger than that who read threads here. For some reason, younger kids like to ride bikes and Bike Forums is one of those catchy names that pops up in bicycle related web searches.

The fact that you typed it answers your own question. As to photos, vulgar photos are going to be removed as usual. We usually will remove threads like that when we hear from members that their boss walked by the cubicle at the wrong time and got written up for it. Likewise when we hear an IT department blocked Bike Forums from a network because of stuff like that. I don't know about you, but it would really be a bummer for me if I couldn't access this site at lunch because someone doesn't have the ability to utilize a search engine and find the sites on the web that are devoted to bicycle-oriented cheesecake shots. Why should I (and others) have to pay for someone else's lack of common sense and internet skills? As to the tastefulness of such a thread, I can assure you that it's a fantastic way to send a lot of women to the Women's Forum and to Team Estrogen. So if you're looking for even more of a sausage-fest atmosphere than ever before, go for it.

Gore Tipper would also tell all of you that you are free to have your own version of BikeForums. One of the reasons BikeForums has gotten to this size is because it works hard at being a community for all people.

There are plenty of cycling forums where there's no word filters, precious little moderating, and which are wide open to those of you asking for photos of various parts of (female) human anatomy.

You are free, and welcome, to become a part of those communities.

Oh, is that Tipper Gore? Making some kind of comparison between her and me might be apt were I some government official trying to tell a private company how to run their internet forum. I'd be pretty upset if a set of forum guidelines were imposed upon the company that owns BF by the federal government, that's for sure. Fortunately, the government has nothing to do with this privately-owned business.

I don't think that SoR is representative of Aussies at all since most I have met here and in real life tend to be pretty decent folks.

You can actually find brainless boguns everywhere although they go by different names in different places.

He seems to fail a bit in logic as well.

1. There are other places much more vulgar that you can post in. But they are much smaller.

2. BikeForums is very large, but they don't let you do whatever you want.

Hmmm, perhaps, just perhaps (I know I am probably stretching it here ) Bikeforums got that way BECAUSE of the rules, not in spite of them. I know it probably is silly to think this but it is possible that people who run the largest bikeforum that I know of might actually have a plan to the rules instead of just having a bad hair day or something.

And, bikeforums isn't a private playground for pottymouths. It happens to have a lot of people, some who do have a vocabulary more than 4 letters.

BE NICE.
Pretty simple. Throw in a wingding or two and we will all understand you want to say something really important. Try to talk like your mom is in the room. Unless your mom taught you to talk like that, then no.

Just sayin'...a pretty decent bloke would not be saying things like that to a fellow BikeForums member, especially one as gracious and patient as donnamb.

As for Sixty Fiver's name--how do you know he's not referring to where he lives? He could be Santa Claus...:) .

I'm by no means a prude, but why do alot of people assume that cussing is always accepted as a norm. This has always been a great place to post opinions and get answers. I'm more moved by intellectual comments about something I'm interested in, than someone dropping F-bombs because they wanna shock people.

I would agree. For the most part bikeforums is compfortable for all. Not perfect for anyone. As I have said in the past, bikeforums.net is my primary home, if I feel the need to really rant or go a little non pg. I have other forums which have less rules, less posts and less users, they also tend to be discipline specific.

Intelligence is sexy. A vocabulary that goes beyond boring vulgarity is a sure sign of intelligence. :)

There are few things I find sexier than intelligence and if a woman can't stimulate my intellect then it's not likely that anything else is going to get stimulated.
