I'm ready to move up from my department store bone shaker to a real bike. I'm seriously considering a "Specialized Crossroads" model. I test road one at a local shop and thought it felt great. It's also in my price range. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks, John K.

It is a good "recreational" comfort bike for the money. It is also a huge improvement from the "mart" bikes.

Great choice for bike paths.

One question, though: where do you intend to ride?

Recreational bike paths?
Roads?
Gravel trails?
Singletracks?

If you think you'll ever get more adventurous and try a mountain bike trail, you may also want to check our a Specialized Hardrock or Specialized Rockhopper. Your LBS should be open to changing the tires out to semi-slicks for you (if needed) instead of the more aggresive cross-country tires they come with.

My wife and 30 year old son both ride Crossroads. They are great around the neighborhood bikes. They haven't ventured as far as I do, but they are great improvement over Sears!
