Well, I road with the herd for the first time today! I was totally a rookie as I went by myself and knew only one person that was way faster than me. Anyway, I let the herd take off and fell in at the back, I mean the back, as one rider was behind me! Soon I found out that the herd was my friend and started moving up. All the riding this winter by myself started to pay off at the first hill as there was a lot slowing down to get up it. I fell in with some guys, did a little wheel sucking and then pulled them along, really happy with how it went. The ride was not without drama as my chain came off twice, got dropped by some tandems (note to self-do not try to hang with tandem bikes, two motors!) Still, for my first time to ride 50 miles, first time to ride with a group, I learned a lot and will do it again.:)

Happy Birthday and hope you are feeling better, VV. I thought today I would be sore, but not so bad as I just got back from a 20 mile ride. I really see why everyone likes to ride in groups now! I just need to find some 2nd shift peeps to ride with!

The unidentified HiVis rider (initials D.S.) is more comfortable on his BMW bike at the front or rear of a sanctioned race. He can also be seen occasionally riding on well traveled roads out by the airport during rush hour.

Looks like a great time, as long as you were bundled up! I have also done one group ride. The first thing I noticed was all the gears changing at about the same time, as well as how loud clipping in and out is when a dozen people are doing it at once...

Hope you get more rides in this year...

Doesn't that remind you of typing class in HS, back in the day of the old manual Royals and the weekly typing proficiency tests? :p
