I am in need of a new tire, i am currently using a continental ultra 3000 front and ultra 2000 rear. the rear is new but the front has 3 holes in it and about 1000 miles and is just about dead. I dont want to spend a crazy amount of money but want to get a decent tire, i ride on streets and a paved blacktop trail. Please help me out. I am buying from performance so i can use the coupon with a bunch of other stuff.

I use Performance's best kevlar belted tires and have had very good luck with them. In three years have had one blowout from a rock which slit the sidewall above the belt (pretty weird cut - rode home with a $5 bill folded in as a tire patch), and one pinch flat. Think they are the Kevlar Pro. Can usually get them on sale for under $30.

I'm in the same boat here. Any opinions on any of these tires:

Performance Forte Pro Kevlar Road Tire-Folding (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=11461)
Michelin Axial SuperComp Road Tire (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=14978) -Didn't seem to get good reviews over at roadbikereview.com but second opinions are always nice
Performance Forte Kevlar Road Tire-Folding (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=4569)

I'm riding 700x25 right now, but plan on switching to something smaller. Should I just go for the 23's or would 20's offer a more noticable difference (weight, rolling resistance, etc.)

Michelin Axial SuperComp Road Tire--I rode these and they are a nice tire but wore out kinda quick under my weight, 190#. My wife is only 115# and hers are still new looking after a year. Nice roll and cornering. I now ride the Michelin Axial Pro Road Tire and am vey happy with it--wears way better but they cost a lot more. I think they are now called the Pro Race...You might want to check out the Michelin Carbon Pro which is made to wear longer.

I use the michelin axial carbons . Haven't had problems with them yet and I'm over 1500 miles on them. They're rated for 3800 miles. Hit several gravel patches and some broken glass patches (by accident) and I've yet to get a flat or sliced tire (now crossing my fingers).

For the past few years, I've been using the Michelin Hi-Lite Prestige tires Performance always sells at a discount. You can get them for a little over $20 each. They are fantastic tires -- they have low rolling resistance, corner well, are very "springy" and best of all, last forever. I think I had maybe one puncture this year, and that's after a few thousands miles on an old pair of these Hi-Lite Prestige tires. I've tried quite a few more expensive racing tires and none compare to these in feel and longevity (for one thing, the expensive racing tires are really designed to be light and not really for their ability to last and my experience confirms this).

I've also heard good things about the Michelin Carbons (Axial Carbons). Performance has them on sale now and I'm going to try a pair. But I always buy a couple of Hi-Lite Prestige tires from Performance as a backup in case the new tires don't work out.

I've heard the contis are not as good in the rain (Don't know about the 4-season one).

I'm trying contis on my tandem because they seem to wear better than others.

My racing bike I run Michelin Axial/pro/race. I get about 2200 miles out of the rear tire and about 5000 miles out of the front tire.
