Well I am sure it was ticked off because a car hit it.

I got a call that there was a dead cow waiting for me as it was just hit by a car/truck and was still warm. This was 7 PM Friday and I called two friends so we could go get it, about an hour away.

By 1:30 AM we were back home with the cow, we are going to split the beef among three families so we won't have too much meat, not that I have to worrry about that problem.

It is now hanging in my shop waiting until next Saturday when three families get together and butcher it up. Can you spell Bar B. Q.

And I don't really like red meat, but it sure will make for some good trade goods. :D

We do that all the time here is Australia - Possum, Kangaroo, Emu, Wallaby. Scrape it off the road. 'If its still warm, its cool!'

I wonder if the spot where the cow got hit is the most tender...

I would imagine so. Hey, I bet he doesn't even have to process it! Instant ground beef.

Well that is what they are feeding most of the cattle these days! Gotta use up all of that surplus corn! ;)

Hey, if the meat is usable, why let it go to waste? I've been with people who have stopped their vehicles just to salvage any meat they can from a freshly struck carcass.

Range fed beef, no contaminants, all natural Angus mix.

The interesting part is that I can find no place where the cow was hit, so I assume it was hit in the head or stomich. I am a hunter from a long way back and I know when meat is tainted or not and this is some fine beef.

The humor is quite funny and if I could compete I would, some one at school asked me if we kept the calf fetus but I told them I don't really like my veal that young. :)

Uh, actually no.

The meat where it got hit is 'bloodshot' (the true origin of the word), and is generally discarded, or fed to the local carnivores raw (give it to the dog, in other words).

Sounds like my second cousins out in Nebraska.

A truck carrying something like 200 chickens crashed and they got called up to collect them. They managed to nab about 150 chickens and for the next few days, they processed all those chickens by hand.

Still looking good, we are having beef heart and rice tonight along with some veggies. Lots of pepper and it is ready to go.

Back in the stone age when my wife and I were only married 10 years, during that anniversary night, someone hit a deer outside our home (we lived in a rural area). They drove on and we went out to check on things - there was a perfectly good dead deer, just killed.

We spent the next few hours of our anniversary night butchering a deer. I know, I know, we were such crazy romantics!

We were also pretty poor at the time.

Just curious:

How many of the "eww" crowd are city slickers and how many of the "git er done" crowd are country folk. :)

The beef jelly after a car hit is not really good to eat and it doesn't spread like jam either.

I am going to have to scrub the bloodstains off my shop floor after the butcher party/barbeque.

And by the way, the beef heart we had tasted nasty, I think I burnt it,,,, or something.
