Any tips on preventing hand numbness? Even with decent gloves, cork bar tape, and what feels like a comfortable and efficient riding position I still get some hand numbness after the first hour or so. Thanks for any suggestions!

Move your hands around. Dont keep them in one spot.
I move mine around alot and dont have the numbness.
Good Luck

If you do a search, you'll find some great information on this subject.
FYI, I had the same problem, and made some adjustments that helped a lot. The adjustment that worked the best for me was tilting my saddle tip up a bit. This took a lot of weight off my hands. However, there is a delicate balance between numb hands, and numb "other stuff".
Good luck! :)
I used to get the same thing, but rotated my bar downwards so that the shifter hoods were lower - so when i was holding on to the hoods my wrists were more straight in relation to my arm...this pretty much eliminated any numbness or soreness i had been getting in my hands.

Relax your grip, keep elbows bent, change hand positions throughout your ride. If you want to experiment with the saddle move it forward a bit and tilt upwards. That helps move your weight back towards the sit bones vs your arms.
