Woot has the Sony Vaio UX390N micro pc at more than half price today....

I would love to have one of these on tour and thought others might as well. www.woot.com (http://www.woot.com/)

Watch the CNET video about it here... (http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_VAIO_UX390N_Micro_PC/4660-12760_7-6683663.html)

- that Sony is FUGLY!

(besides, how would you charge it while touring? take along the base?)

:-)

i'd prefer something like this (built-in slider keyboard, GPS, mapping software, Wifi, camera, Skype, video/mp3 playback - and runs Linux) - for 1/3 the price:

eeePC.

Gotta be product of the year. Simple, light, does pretty much everything a full-size laptop does.
I was sceptical till I got my hands on one. Fantastic design, I could even touch-type on the keyboard.

I would also second the Asus EEE, its much cheaper and has everything you need
You can even install Windows on it if you want to

I use a Palm TIX with a Bluetooth GPS unit on my touring bike. I use the circuit below to recharge the Palm and GPS unit and for LED lights at night. This gives me internet, email, send pictures/video and post updates when in a WiFi hotspot.

I use this GPS software with my Palm TIX PDA. http://www.cetusgps.dk/
Here is the Bluetooth GPS unit I use.

I'm looking at the ASUS myself but it will probably come later in the year, maybe June.

In the meantime, I'm stuck using one of these.

The Nokia N810 is DOPE... you really can't visualize how small/light it is until you hold it in your hands. Full-featured internet browser w/ full "screen-size" resolution (800x480 w/ screen scaling)... the internet experience and typing experience (slide-out keyboard) is much nicer than any other sub-notebook size mobile information device. Also has GPS.

That said, you can get pretty much the same features in a Nokia N95 handset... GPS, robust browsing, etc. You just give up the larger screen & the full keyboard.
