On the show 2 1/2 men there was a pretty good show on this. The evil brother paid the doctor to dress up in the other brother's nightmare.
So... have you had any nightmares and where are you having it done? :D

I'll be joining you soon enough, Tom. I've got cancer in my immediate family, so it happens ten years earlier for me. Do me a favor, and DON'T tell me what to expect.....

It's really not so bad, Tom. The worst part is the vile, bitter crap you have to drink the day before. The rest is a piece of cake.
And if you don't need heavy sedation, you can even watch the screen, and it's kinda like watchin' that science fiction film from years ago -- can't recall the name -- where there was a medical crew shrunk down to go inside the body of one of their colleagues to battle some kind of infection or something. Anyone remember that film, BTW?

Yeah, that's it! That was a great film. Especially near the end, when they had to get out fast before time ran out and they all got big again! :D
Good luck, Tom. You'll be quite all right, once you managed to choke down that vile crappy liquid. <bleeeeah>
Dad was going in for some sort of thing where they used a laser in his rear end. Doc gave him a solution to drink that the doc told him would eliminate "gas pockets" in his innards. He swears that that night he had a nightmare in which the doc did hit a "gas pocket" with the laser. In this dream, the explosion brought dad out from under anethesia to find the doc with all his facial hair burned off and dad's rectum blown across the room and stuck to the far wall of the operating room.
Good Luck Tom!!!!!

Lemon Ginger flavor and did they really have to concentrate the entire salt content of the Pacific in that tiny little bottle?

Tom- As a veteran, I can tell you that it's not really that bad. First, make sure your Drano equivalent (Go-Lytely, or whatever the doc prescribed) is chilled. It tastes much, much worse if it's even close to room temperature. Second, drink it through a straw, aim it at the back of your tongue and let it just roll down the gullet. Third, the "end results" (as it were) are not bad to deal with- like a case of turista without the nausea and vomiting and of course the trip to Mexico (and, alas, without the tasty empanadas...)- it will be all over in a couple of hours.
Finally, know that what you're going through today will be justly reward tomorrow with really great drugs :). Seriously- be very, very careful with doing anything that demands any attention tomorrow. You'll think you're fully compos mentis tomorrow, even tomorrow night. But trust me, you won't be- just relax and enjoy. You'll be back to normal first thing Wednesday AM, after having had what you'll no doubt call the best night's sleep of your life.
Good luck, and all the best!

Ugh, no fun this is. I had to go through it late last summer. I think I lost 5lbs (yes, I am that full of sh...).
I'm only 34, but I developed diverticulitis (runs in the family). They confirmed the diagnosis, removed some polyps, and told me to come back in 5yrs.
The only good part about the whole deal was the feeling as they gave you the various drugs to knock you out. :D

Drink some water, and make an imaginary peanut butter sandwich. Works for me, if only for a short time. It's a little trick I learned as a kid, when I used to go to bed hungry sometimes.
Remember: Vodka is clear.

Tom, it is not bad these days at all. I go once every year because of my increased risk of Crohn's which is very prevelant in the Family. The stuff you are drinking is great compared to the old stuff/swill. And if your Dr. doesn't put you out for the deal, then what is wrong with him? No one should have to suffer through a colonoscopy in this day and age. The only place you do not get knocked out is in the VA.(keeps costs down ya know!) Seriously, if you have to be awake for it, SOMETHING is wrong somewhere.

Well, at least if you were playing Jumanji and an elephant ate you, it wouldn't be able to keep you inside very long, since you've already been running around and around and thus, you'd soon be all pooped out

I had one in November and it really isn't that bad. I had endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time. It really isn't as bad as you might think.
The laxatives are the worst. I didn't even take all of them because I thought my ass was going to fall off...lol.
Oh, and btw, try to get the pills if you can. The solution is yuckscusting.

I had the test done about a year or so ago, it wasn't too terrible. I was only 30 or 31 at the time. I just wish they would have put me to sleep for it. There are some things a person just shouldn't have to remember. :o
