Has anyone been through classes at a bike mechanics school in Ashland Oregon. I'm interested in maybe doing this in the next year so I though some first hand knowledge would be nice to have from those that have attended. Thanks

I'll let you know I'm signed up for the basic maintenance class at the end of April.

Hi,
I attended several years ago and felt it was worth while. I do better with hands on and some instruction, rather than just reading and forging ahead. I pretty well do most of my repairs and adjustments now, and that is helpful, since our bicycle shop was not always open when I needed help. I still get help installing headsets and wheel building due to lack of specific tool, but the class was very useful. Hope you can take your bicycle. The Ashland area has good roads for riding.

I have a number of friends who have attended UBI and everyone has rave reviews of the classes they have attended. I know that UBI graduates are highly sought after in the shop world.
I plan on attending a bike building class in late 2008. That is really the last thing on my "bucket list" as far as bikes go. I saw the booth at the NAHMBS show in San Jose last year. The riding around Ashland is fantastic...bring your bike. Have fun.

I attended UBI's two-week mechanics class in mid-2006, and was quite happy with the experience. Enough so that I'm going back in May for one of the framebuilding classes, in fact. :)
If you have the interest, and tend to respond favorably to a classroom setting, I highly recommend attending.

I'm leaving for UBI (ashland) this saturday. So I'll let you know what I think when I get back... Or maybe I'll even do a play-by-play.
What kind of riding is good around there? Granted, it's winter-ish out there (I'm going from 6f to 46f in one day). But, I'm taking my fixed gear. And I'm not much of a mountain biker.
Thoughts?
