i was looking to get into bmx racing for fun and found the diamondback skindog in a puke green that looks sick. but its steel and heavy. i didnt know if it would be a good contender for racing or should i get something that is aluminum.
a guy i know races at steelwheels in portland IN. i am going to try and make it out there this summer

What? No opinions from anybody? Steel is ok, cro-moly is actually good.

Try out a few races with it, you won't be to competitive on that bike but it'll give you an idea on whether or not you like it.
If you like it drop some cash on a nice bike.

i have a post going on over at bmx-forums and they are talking about maybe intense or kuwahara the intense pro xl is 429 (zebra) and the kuwahara nova pro is $335. i am thinking of getting the kuwahara.

steel, aluminum, chromoly, sure weight is different but no matter what the bike is made of and waht blinging parts it may have. doesn't mean it will help win a race, even if it helps at all. It is up to you, how hungry you are and how you do it.

Well first of all to recommend a bike we need sizes. But you can't really go wrong with Redline, GT, Haro, Intense, or Kuwahara. DK also has some good beginning race bikes. My friend had one and it was pretty good.
