The Tour is looking for volunteers the week before the Tour to help with Ground Transportation for the Pro Tour Teams and Tour staff, and miscellaneous other duties associated with the Tour vehicle setup. I am attaching the assignment descriptions for your information. If you have friends or club contacts that you can share this information with, volunteers are needed for various shifts from Monday through Saturday, February 11th – 16th. It’s a great way to volunteer for the Tour and still get out to watch the race, too!

I registered for volunteer work (not this one, but course marshall/med. escort/etc.... during the race) for the Prologue, but still didn't hear back.

Anyone else hear back?

Won't be able to do it this year. :( Last two times I had tons of fun. Plus I got two sweaters out of it. :D

I'll email Lynn to see if she knows what's up.

I'm registered for the 1st and 3rd stages as a course marshall. Responsibility for organizing the volunteers for each stage seems to end up with the city - I've heard from Santa Rosa several times, have my position responsibility, know what time I need to be there, etc. I just heard from San Jose last week, but kind of a "don't touch that dial" kind of a message - no real information yet.

I've now heard from the organizers for each of the first 3 stages about orientation meetings, assignments, etc. My guess is that everyone should have heard from now. I don't know a phone number for an overall organizer - I heard from volunteers in Santa Rosa and Modesto.

I just received an e-mail today regarding volunteering at the Prologue. The e-mail was to get a final headcount of volunteers. For those that respond back "yes", further information to follow (an email packet with information pertaining to the race; an orientation date (most likely the Feb. 1); and race day "check in" location.

The email was from Virginia Richard-Davis [virginiatoc@gmail.com] but she said she will NOT be opening, or responding to any of the email responses due to number of responses. She said to wait until you have received the info packet, as your questions or concerns might be answered.

I just got off the phone with Carrie from the Sports authority and they desperately need Course Marshals for the stage from Modesto to San Jose. Especially those course marshalls in the hills, (Sierra Rd, Hamilton, etc) Just an FYI.

Spin... can I semi-hijack your thread to let folks know that The Nat'l MS Society desperately needs volunteers at their booth for Wednesday's stage in San Jose!

It may not be as glamorous as working the actual Tour but if you're there you can take a couple hours out of the day to help pass some info on MS and the Waves to Wine Ride in September.

I'm signed up for Sunday in Palo Alto already but since I work during the weekday I can't do San Jose.

If you are interested in helping the MS folks out please call Liz Bernstein at 510-267-9669 for more information! Plus, you'll probably get some free swag for helping out.

(FYI: I have two friends with MS so it's a charity that's near and dear to my heart. and I've ridden the MS ride the last two years, one in Dallas and last year's ride here in the Bay Area.)

Tell Liz that Gary sent you. (not that it'll make any difference...)

Thanks!
Gary
